Destroyed? Destroyed? I actually reckon Louis could win, but highly unlikely that anyone stops Ali IMO, not even the greatest puncher of all time.

Ali's feet are Hell for Louis I think. A bigger Billy Conn with more power, more durable and more unpredictable offence?

    No chance :deal

It just seemed real close to me when I scored it last time. I had Duran but only a round or 2 iirc.

    Gonna rescore it next week.

You're only mad cos you know it's true :hey

Flea, the poem wouldnt have been as effective if it read: 'This theory may not be popular, but Ali loses a decision against the Bomber

I think Joe's effectivee body work and combinations could slow Ai down, with the Bomber catching up to him late, just like the aforementioned Conn. Ali also liked to prove he could slug it at times (foreman). Laying on the ropes waiting for Joe to attack would be beyond dangerous

He would have been just another victim :yep

No, Ali's legs failed him by that point, and after the opening stanza he knew he'd have to let Foreman tire himself out. I certainly wouldn't class it as 'slugging it out'.

:D I no mate, i'm only winding up. I was having the same discussion on facebook about 30 seconds ago

Ali was extremely good at adopting the correct plan for any given opponent. So i suspect he would dance around Joe, tagging him with his jab. But i just think Joe was the all round better fighter (body work, combination wise, power and countering). I loved the way he stalked his opponents, standing tall while walking to the opponent, before slightly crouching, taking half a step back when reaching the opponent to draw the lead, and firing the bombs over the top.

While Ali would rack up the early rounds, I feel Joe's constant pressure and agressive body work would slow Ali down, force him to fight, before the KO comes very very late.

Who would you back Flea? and why?

Pre-exile Ali would be too elusive & wins on points imo

Post-exile Ali would get caught a lot more & would lose.

Joe doesnt beat Ali im afraid just no. I hear where you are coming from but I have to say that the best version of Joe loses a competitive but comfortable decision to Ali all day long. Louis just hasnt got the footwork to keep up with Ali. Even if Ali does decide to slug he might get hit he might go down but he gets up before the ref is even able to start the count. Ali was just a nutter like that. 10-5 Ali

I actually wouldn't be surprised if it's Joe getting stopped, late. Great fight between two of the greatest fighters ever and the two greatest Heavys, as well as two contrasting styles.

But one man has a clear advantage here. I wouldn't pick Arguello over Floyd either for the same reason.

I'd pick Wlad Klitschko to beat Jack Johnson over 12 rounds with modern gloves.

I predicted that Vitali and Vladimir klitschko would become world champions years ago. Americans said that was impossible..................

I have serious man love for Jack. But Wlad would nullify all of his strong points IMO. Typical Wlad snoozefest
