Mitchell vs Crolla?

I don't think he's too overrated nowadays, and I don't think I'm overrating him either, I just don't think he's totally put of the realms of an ABC title.

In a day and age where Ricky Burns can call himself a 'two-weight World champion' anyone near the realms of 'fringe World class' can win one, it's all down to connections, and the belts mean nothing, so to suggest that Kev might grab one at some point isn't even really indicative of his ability or potential IMO.

He's certainly one of our classier operators at the moment IMO, when he's on song. Fast hands, and when he walks you into a sharp counter or catches you with a sweet one in the midst of a combo he can pull of some sweet stuff.

As you say though, he's done nothing to prove he's genuinely World class, and by that I mean objective World class and not 'I'm a spaz he's a bit flashy so he's amazing DUH' kinda' stuff.

To say it is ludicrous to class Mitchell fringe world class is a bit silly really. Without a doubt in my mind he is fringe world class.

 

Why does this myth keep getting perpetuated? Mitchell did hardly any slipping, not enough for him to take masses of punches in most of the rounds. Sure, he might've taken the sting off a few of the punches but Murray is a featherfist, it was the Kats that Burns beat he would've still stopped the Mitchell that beat Murray.

It's bollocks that he was doing much in the way of effective defence early on in the fight, although he was always doing the sharper punching. Murray, a plodder, had no worries getting close to Mitchell.

 

I think Dan is trying to say Mitchell does not have a world class fringe.

Wins possibly/ probably. I wouldn't say clearly to be honest. Mitchell is one of the cleverest boxers around when he,s on it. He'd be a helluva fight.
Crolla. Last year I would have agreed it would've been a comfortable night's work but over the last 18 months Crolla looks far more accomplished. I'd make Ricky favourite but it's a fight I'd be happy to pay to see

 

Promoters aren't often interested in making good fights.

These 2 is a 50-50 fight where they fight on the same level and the chance to progress. Next bout would be an eliminator for a world title but more likely a bogus world title shot.

Technically Ricky is now better in every dept more importantly his defence is now near watertight imo kevins isnt

I think Mitchell has a lot of ability there is certainly no doubting that he was very poor against Kats and was torn apart. I dont think Crolla is going to go any further than British level. I would favour Mitchell to win big on points if he shows up if not maybe a SD.

As for either against burns I think they would both be broken down by Ricky, he is too sharp for both of them and just a bridge too far for Mitchell and a long way out of Crolla's league.

 

I really like Crolla but he looks very European to me. He doesnt do anything well enough to do well at the world stage IMO. Solid is the perfect way to describe him

Mitchel should move forwards not backwards no offence to million dollar but it is a step back considering the guy he just beat ended up fighting for world honours and not looking all that bad considering (prior to the last two rounds). He really should be more active I dont know if its Wazzas fault or his but someone needs to sort it out.
