Mayweather Eyes Martinez If Not Pacquiao, Dismisses Alvarez, Cotto, Guerrero

  1. I love the ''if he can make 150, let's make the fight happen. There's no excuses'' line.

Hmm... dragging the middleweight champion to a weight he's not made in years... wouldn't be so bad if Floyd said he'd do it at 154 or something, at least they're meeting in the middle.

Martinez is DEFINITELY the second best move for Floyd. I think it perhaps does more for his legacy than the Pac fight. However at 150 pounds it is questionable. At 154 it has serious worth. Can Martinez make 150 pounds? I highly doubt it unless he kills himself to make the weight.

Martinez is a bigger Pac man and would do wonders for Floyds legacy at 154. Floyd has no issues with defending his attacks but will he present enough fire power to get the points.

I have no problem with Pacquiao and Mayweather not being willing to fight Martinez.

Tbh, Martinez is acting like Terry Norris back in the day.

    How is he?

Since moving up he's fought Williams (x2), Pavlik, Dzinziruk and Barker.

Williams moved up to 160 before him, Pavlik was the #1 MW, Dzinziruk he was forced to fight when he was happy to face Zbik, and Barker was a decent MW contender. So he's fought one fighter moving up to face him.

He's now looking to fight Pac or Floyd, but he's not asking them to come up, he's offering to go down to weights they have been happy to fight at before.

    Get ****ed. :hi:

Essentially what Norris was willing to do against Chavez.

Now, now, was only a gag, and not like you to allow bias to get in the way of objectivity ;-)

Martinez chose to fight at 160lbs away from the money, that's his problem. I don't like it when a bigger fighter constantly calls out smaller guys. He keeps calling Manny out and for me is displaying the traits of a bully. I didn't like when Norris did it and i don't like it when Martinez does it. Pacquiao cannot carry more than 145lbs in the ring. Martinez is a fully fledged middleweight.

Sergio is a terrific fighter. I like him. But clamoring for a fight with smaller guys two weight classes below turns you off a bit. At least Terry Norris cleaned out his division before chasing Whitaker and Chavez around.

I understand that Martinez wants some moolah, but they obviously think he's too big and who can blame them. I've never seen a fighter so steadfast in moving up in weight but then wants to move down. His braintrust said he was walking around at 158lbs. I don't buy that, i remember him complaining about fighting Paul Williams at 157 catchweight. They did a check weigh-in 3 weeks before the fight and he was 177lbs. So how the heck is he walking around 158 now.

There's fights for him at middlweight. I also remember Lucian Bute was willing to fight him at 166lbs. I don't see him wanting that challenge.

  13. You've done it now Slip... The MDL will be out in force :hey

Last time Sergio weighed 150 was in 2003, one fight before he came to Britain. Nine ****ing years ago.

He's just whoring himself out with this "I'll come down to 150". **** that ****. Either stay at 160 or if you can go down to 154, him at 154 will be like De La Hoya at 147 for the Pacquiao fight.

And Floyd's a twat for even entertaining this fight. I'd much rather he fights Cotto at 154.

He didn't go away from the money, really. The money fights for him 2 years ago were at 160. He had absolutely no chance of a Floyd fight back then, so there was no point sitting around for one. He's always said that Floyd is the one he wants...

Bute's asking Martinez to fight above where he has fought before, he's not the biggest of middleweights as it is. Floyd on the other hand was happy to go up for the Oscar fight, and looked fine there.

That about the walking weight is just talk. There's no way he is anywhere near that low.

I think that Sergio would have a hard time making 154, I don't think he can safely make 150. As Ishy said 9 years is a long time.
