So Arum is all about maximizing revenue, well surely he's not going to have a temporary stadium host Mayweather-Pacquiao on the very same night as UFC's annual Memorial Day weekend show, that they have held at the MGM every year since 2007. Per Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports @mofopolitics 2h @KevinI Bob Arum says Mayweather still Plan A - is that true or does he already have Pac-Cotto II for June 9? Kevin Iole @KevinI @mofopolitics He says Plan A, but only if fight is on May 26, which can't work because there is a UFC fight at MGM that night
Paulfv: Boss, they got us again on ESB, what do I do, what do I say? Arum: Jesus Christ, Paul, do i have to come up with everything? The cut, goddamnit, it's not healed, the plastic surgeon, whatever! I don't give a ****, get posting!
i think this forum lives for the pacquiao drama... and after mayweather completely dominates pacquaio all night, if they ever do fight, we will see a sharp decrease in activity... maybe even a sharp increase in newbies :think:think:think
Pac vs. Mayweather is a much larger event and would draw i's own audience. Selling 30,000 live tickets while UFC is in the smaller venue wouldn't be a problem. The greater question is the PPV buys. Would there be enough people order UFC instead of Pac/May to offset the greater gate revenue?
I've said all along that this is a pissing match between May and Arum. Neither side's point makes financial sense. Ego is greater than common sense between these two. If it's my client, I advise a temporary stadium to maximize revenue, but have the fight on the 19th. It's a free night and both guys get a little bit of a win. Of course I have real estate and lending licenses, not a promotional one.
