Fellow ESbers, in your lifetime I imagine you may have wagered some cash money on the sweet science. In this thread name your most misguided boxing bet you've placed, and then redeem yourself with the one you are happiest about. Can be from any time, although both of mine are comparatively recent.

My worst: Marquez UD Mayweather. Placed in the pub via my phone 5 mins before the bout. Heart overrruled head, even after the weighin shenanegans. Regretted it every moment of the fight.

My best: Martinex KO Williams in their second fight. Was so sure Sergio had his number and had ridiculously underrated power. Was paying something like 10:1 for the KO. Lumped on. When that bomb landed and P Will looked like something from a horror movie, my hands were shaking. Loved it.

    Yours?

Worst: Hopkins - Dawson (Put money on Hops by decision and backed it up with the over 11.5rds... geeeeeee, did that **** me up)

Best: There's many big ones, the most recent is betting on Lamont Peterson at +780.

Never bet HUGE ammounts of money

I had a £50 accumalator, on two fights, Martinez to beat Ricky Burns, and Chad Dawson to UD Jean Pascal.

I had £10 on Haye to KO Harrison in the round he did, at 10/1, the first four rounds were all priced at 10/1

  4. I'm not a big better, although I've kicked myself a couple times for not betting. But I did bet on Jermaine Taylor to beat B-Hop in their first fight. I won some pretty good money.

My worst though... was pretty bad. Tarver vs. Hopkins and Malignaggi vs. Cotto were on the same night. I bet a friend $20 on both fights. I saw the fact that Tarver and Malignaggi both have the "Magic Man" moniker... I thought it was a sign, placed the bets, lost my $40 quite embarrassingly.

I haven't bet boxing since unless you count taking a co-worker's $10 he bet me on Ortiz to beat Mayweather. Easy $10 that day.

I don't really bet that much with real money, but having built up a decent vcash total I lost it all on Hopkins/Dawson going over 9.5 rounds and picking Hopkins to win.

Been there bud, lost a total of $500 on that one fight.

What hurt more than actually losing that money, was staying up all night only to see Hopkins roll around crying and burning my $500.

  9. Excusable IMO.
