Took the words out of my mouth. Even though he missed a lot vs Pernell, I loved the aggression he brought to the ring. How different things may have been had he got the decision vs Tito.

Better and greater than anyone now. Say what you want about "He lost his biggest fights!" but what seperates him from the crap nowadays is that he still took on the best and in my books he beat Trinidad and Mosley(in the rematch). His nervousness got to him many times but when he calmed down and found his punches it's pretty fun watching him. I feel his size did give him and advantage to smaller, slower opponents but jab, chin, and heart are things you can't deny. Was great for boxing.

Brilliant post. most boxing fans today can't get past a guys record on boxrec to form a proper opinion on them.

Most boxers if not all would have had more losses if they fought the type of fights that Oscar did.

For a guy with such box office appeal he really made some huge fights.

Money and Pac should take heed.

i was gutted that King paid off the judges for the tito fight.

Best thing about oscar imo is he was always fighting the best.... not much of the **** that regularly goes down these days... trinidad, ike, vargas, mosley.... hell he even went after hopkins. U didn't like him when he was fighting but I do appreciate him as a fighter and a warrior.

DLH was a great fighter, made some bad decisions strategy wise but great to watch and did everything well....had excellent killer instinct.

He was an exciting fighter and even tho he was the Sugar Ray of the 90s it was understandable no one even Oscar would of filled Leonards shoes. I do think he's borderline great he wasnt just a hyped up pretty boy he took on some beasts in their prime like Trinidad, Quartey, and Mosley and you can say he arguably has a victory over all of them. Him facing Hopkins was like RJ facing Lennox Lewis. Almost suicidal, but you have to give Oscar respect for that. His jab and left hook among the best. I wouldnt put him among greats like Whitaker or Sanchez's level, but he's definitely top 50. He helped boxing have a pulse in the 90s and frpm disappearing from the mainstream. Represented America and Mexico well. Always thought his inside game weak tho for an elite, but his mid-long range fighting was really good. Great balance too.

He was great offensively...defense needed some work but he did improve with Mayweather Sr. My problem with his stance is that he was too squared up at times...but I think this is a reason he got so much torque on his left hook. Great jab and good footwork too. Never ducked anybody either.

In that fight he landed more, but Mosley punches seemed alot more harder. Thats why I think it was scored for Mosley. Oscar didn't win clearly for me. Despite the way he ended the fight with Trinidad, I do think that he got a raw deal for that one.
