Derry Matthews vs. Emiliano Marsili RBR

Lots of darting and leaning in and out by Marsili, almost vibrating with kinetic energy. He must have been chugging Red Bull in the locker room. Matthews' must have made his vodka. Very sluggish and uncoordinated. Sudden winding attack by Matthews, landing a bit to the body and backing Marsili to the ropes. Marsili fights back and puts Matthews on the run with his left hands over the top. Landing. landing well. Right hooks around the guard by Marsili. Matthews ducks back against the ropes. Marsili is trying to hook around the side and slam down lefts over the top as Matthews curls into a ball. Uppercut by Matthews just misses as Marsili leans back. Right upper-hook by Marsili. Nice right hand by Matthews! It doesn't have much lasting effect, though. Marsili keeps peppering him with right jabs and lefts, backing him to the ropes again.

Round 5

Matthews has some early success with the straight 1-2 while backed up against the ropes, but Marsili is sticking to plan as he comes swooping in behind his shell and sharp-shoots with right jabs and lefts. Matthews is taking lateral steps out of the way, setting himself, and launching long jabs and crosses. Matthews is landing much better now. Marsili is still using movement but not working his way in as much. Hopping, tossing long jabs and falling short. Matthews steps around him and lands a good solid right behind a jab. Another right.

Round 6

Big long left hand from the hip by Marsili, catching Matthews flush on the face. Some sprightly bouncing and posturing on the outside by both. Lots of lead hand waving. BIG RIGHT HAND BY MATTHEWS!! Marsili is badly hurt and forgets he's in a boxing ring for a moment, pawing at his eye!! I think he's badly stunned!!! Matthews unloads frantically!!!! Marsili clinches. Several hard jabs to the guard by Mathews. Marsili shoves in and clinches again. Big left hand by Marsili. Two-way archery session. Hooking shots by Marsili, putting Matthews on the ropes. UPPERCUTS!! MATTHEWS DOWN FROM BODY SHOTS!! He beats the count. Matthews throws his own wild straight-armed body shots while backing up. Marsili barrels into him and Matthews is down again. Not a KD this time.

Round 7

Marsili is all over Matthews, working the body with left an right hooks while grinding his upper body into Matthews'. Wilting back against the ropes, Matthews looks frail as a leaf in the wind.
