Is a win over Pacquiao enough to lift Floyd above Pac in the ATG rankings?

If they fight whoever wins will be higher then the other.....if the fight does not happen then the renaming of their careers will be the determining factor

pacquiao's ATG standing is a good 20 to 30 places above where is floyd now according to boxing experts. is that enough to move floyd 20 or 30 places up?

Does anyone really believe that if Floyd beats Manny,he would forever remain behind him in the rankings?
He's already above him,so how would a win keep him behind him, even allowing for the possibility that some have Manny ahead?

Floyd already ranks higher imo. He rose through the divisions challenging the toughest opposition available. He has never lost and his boxing skills are some of the best ever. Pac also went through the divisions taking on great fighters, but his reign at welter is not as impressive as it is made out to be. All the fighters he has fought with the exception of Marquez and Cotto were coming off losses or long breaks. His accomplishments are magnified simply because of his small size. When little Floyd rose all the way to welter back then, he got similar reactions, but since Pac is the flavor of choice at the moment, many people tend to favor him and overlook Floyd. Don't let Floyd's personality cloud your judgement, he is by far the superior fighter and with better accolades.

:dealVery well put.People assume if you rate Floyd as fighter you instantly hate Manny (well, the more rabid Pacfans anyway) but it doesn't have to be the case.I respect Pacquaio but Mayweather is a much more rounded and complete fighter.

Floyd has been dominating guys from amatuer to present, never lost, and world champ in 18th fight. Pac is close to ATG with Floyd but his reign is only half as long as FLoyd's reign. Not to mention pac got wins over some elites with catch weight.

Manny has "failed" in the ring-When we look at a career we have to look at everything-Manny has looked GREAT at times-He has been in exciting fights:thumbsupHis skills are limited and he did FAIL in beating Morales in the first fight-When you look at his draw with JMM, it doesn't add much...He looks very beatable in many fights:dealHis resume is awesome. Barrera X2 though The BabyFace Assasin was well past prime in the second fight-Manny has 8 titles in 8 weight classes-but there is an asterix next to the fake Margarito belt and there is one next to the fake 140lb title (which is not a major title) he got off Ricky.Manny is also very weak in the technical part of this sport. Weak footwork and weak combinations..very sloppy...but thats just opinion where as the other stuff I posted can be backed up more:good so we don't have to include that

Manny beat a Prime Morales but his 2nd win over Eric was nothing special_Eric was already diminished in skill set and reflexes...He was not the same as he was the first and second fight (and before those as well)

Floyd has shown consistency in fighting THE HIGHEST RANKED OPPONENTS AVAILABLE AT THE TIME-SURE, U CAN SAY HE "DUCKED" COTTO...Every fighter has someone they "ducked" here or there...Floyd has never looked very vulnerable, AS A WHOLE..He has beaten all of his 42 opponents less Castillo 1, pretty easy-He was also hurt in the Castillo fight and didn't quit...still got the Win and came back in #2 and beat em easier:deal..Floyd consistently fights the top guys in his division-Look at his recent opponents-He came back and beat the LW champ and #2 LB 4 LB fighter in the world pretty easy-He beat em 12-0..the whole well he was a "blown up LW" is open for discussion-but whatever the case he was the 2 guy in the world-Then he fights the 3 guy in the world in Shane-Someone who, before the fight, everyone said he'd never fight and if he did he'd get beat (until it was signed that is). Floyd is arguably the GOAT at 130lbs-He dominated the division and beat an undefeated at 130 Genaro Hernandez. His talent is unheard of...the "0" on the record is much higher than that of many fighters...It is very hard to get the "0" while fighting as many top ranked world opponents and opponents in his weight class, as Floyd-He has given younger guys, coming up, a chance to win..he beats them too-Floyd's resume is slightly below Mannies as Floyd does not have a "Barrera" on his resume-...Floyd also has held 7 titles in 5 weight classes...

But as a whole, Floyd has never failed..Pac has failed on 5 separate fights, officially...The reasoning behind it, posted above plays major factors too...

Pac is hype-Floyd beats him and the clouded view fans have been given by Arum will go away and Floyd will be recognized as the greater fighter-
