Is a win over Pacquiao enough to lift Floyd above Pac in the ATG rankings?

    I hear you-

I don't feel Floyd "ducked" anyone aside from Cotto however-

a case can only be made for Cotto-

Mayweather already is slightly above Pac in ATG rankings, in my opinion.

    Mayweather: 15-20
    Pacquiao: 20-25

And I give most of my respect to fighters from previous eras. May, Pac, Hopkins, and Jones would be the only active fighters to crack my top 50 all time list.

ya bro, you'll find most fans/writers/historians/trainers will put Floyd above him or right around the same spot, thus the statement is good

Floyd should be above Pac now on the ATG chart. He's clearly the better skilled between the two and have shown us 42 times and counting. If they fight, when Floyd beat him he'll probably get pushed higher on the chart from where he's at now. Keep in mind most already believe, including Pac promoter (Arum) that Floyd is the better man. Should Floyd win not to many are going to be surprise, the surprise and shock moment will come from Manny beating him. With that being a fact, how could Manny ranking on the ATG list be higher then Floyd considering all of the above?

Dude most people had Pac over Floyd in previous polls by landslide... what has happened since then? Pac struggled against Marquez, a guy he's always struggled against.

You don't leapfrog a fighter who many consider "greater" than you by kicking back and watching his demise as he gets older, it's by your own accomplishments in which people are given something to measure with.

of course though all you're gonna come up with is 'learn your baaxin'

The JMM 3 fight showed Manny was pretty much the same as before:deal..

Nobody ever had Pac above 30:deal Floyd is top 40-45 on most lists:deal..so what your saying is wrong imo-

I've seen the polls and these 2 are usually right around each other-I think Floyd usually edges em out on most polls.

Not arguing, just tellin u-u can google it if u'd like sources..

If Marquez was the only determining factor then I'd agree with you because Pac struggled and Floyd schooled but total resume wise its a no-brainer really ill dig up some threads

you wanna tell me that this poll is close man??

U can look at total resume-but include the losses when looking at the resume-

    :deal

I understand and respect YOUR opinion-I'm just saying more boxing media/fans/writers/trainers etc will put Floyd above Manny in an ATG list:deal

Don't JUST look at resume-look at skill level-ups and downs in their careers-understand the different styles-

I'm not a part time boxing fan bro-I dont stick to just Floyd and Manny-I know my $hit-

I watch all divisions from 105-HW..Floyd will definitely (especially after beating Manny) be looked at as the higher atg.

The JMM 3 fight showed Pac to be vulnerable to a certain style-

Floyd has never looked "vulnerable" to a certain style-Pac has and he has been knocked twice, beaten by Morales at Morales 2nd best weight (maybe 3rd), and he scored draws with Sanchez and JMM 1.

Before answering this question, I think we need to consider the following two points....

1- If the boxers that Pac have defeated, (from DLH onward) are either damaged goods, or dehidrated, or in their way out (too old) as many people and videos posted by posters on this forum suggest... then defeating Pac would not/should not cause the impact that some might expect, and therefore it won't really help Floyd's resume or ATG status to go up drastically as some might think.

2- If the boxers that Pac have defeated, (from DLH onward) are legit in the sense that none of them were somehow handicapped as some posters or media might claim otherweise, then Floyd's resume will be really impacted and his status as ATG will go up substancially.

Many people use resume exclusively as a measurement of greatness (something I personally disagree with for various reasons). If how you look in the ring was such significant factor, more people would have Jones much higher than your typical top 50.

Also post some of these opinions from experts you're telling me about from legit writers (ie not Karceno) because there's a reason the BWAA voted Pac as the FOTD...
