He fought a higher Caliber of P4P fighters than Floyd and Pacquiao. You have to take into consideration the state of each opponent at the time when they were fought. Example: DLH - Pac Whitaker > Morales Quartey > Clottey, Cotto JCC > Margarito Vargas > Hatton Mayorga > Diaz Mosley > Mosley Trinidad > MAB
Petty much at the lower weights, the only win worth a lot was Ruelas. Moina, Leija, Hernandez were career SFW's before Oscar fought them at LW. MA Gonzalez was a career LW before Oscar fought him at JWW and the best LW who he should have fought at the weight instead of those SFWs Chavez had no business at WW for their rematch. Camacho came down from MW for the fight, looked horrible and weak. Gatti was no WW.
If you compare DLH's record in his first 7 years, it shits all over Pac's resume and Floyd's resume. Compare.. Please.
Can't really compare time frames, Oscar was a star straight off the bat and could get any big fight he wanted. At LW and below Floyd Hernandez SFW Manfedy SFW Corrales SFW Augustus SFW Chavez LW Hernandez Castillo LW x2 N'dou Manny Sasakul FW Ledwaba SBW Barrera FW Marquez FW Morales SFW x 3 Larios SFW Barrera SFW Marquez SFW Diaz LW Oscar Bredahl SFW Paez LW Molina LW Ruelas LW Hernandez LW Leija LW
When he fought Ruelas he had what, 18 fights? You have to marinate a fighter before you throw them with the best. Most experts had Ruelas winning their fight. Oscar wasn't the favorite. Meanwhile, he still fought Chavez and was still pretty much a kid and Chavez hadn't lost in years and only had 1 loss. sure he wasn't prime but Chavez wasn't shot either. Yea that was light welter but regardless. By the time he was welter he was fighting the best of the best. He was rated p4p #1 ahead of Jones at one time, during Jones prime! Come on now. I love how haters choose to focus on who he didn't fight yet has a resume of fights second to none. As a lightweight he was a monster. Kid came out knocking guys out like Tyson in 1-2 rounds. Lightweights don't do that. PAc got wobbled by Marquez, what do you think Oscar would have done.
what the fuk planet are you from? 3 rounds my fuking ass, even emmuael, who was so biased for Floyd that fight said Oscar was winning after 7-8 rounds. So gee, that must be 4-5 rounds.
Like I said, Ruelas was the only win he had at 130-135 that was meaningful. Didn't say anything about Chavez at JWW, one of his best wins, his breakthrough win to superstardom. And I know that, his resume beyond 140 is phenomenal Chavez JWW Gonzalez JWW Whitaker WW Chavez WW Quartey WW Trinidad WW Mosley WW Gatti WW Castillejo JMW Vargas JMW Mosley JMW Sturm MW Hopkins MW Mayorga JMW Mayweather JMW Pacquiao WW ...there you are again overrating him at the lower weights. Tell me which top rated LW at the time did he knock out, outside of Ruelas and little Jorge Paez? He would not have knocked out MA Gonzalez had he fought him at LW, he couldn't do it at JWW. So him knocking out Pacquiao at LW is based on Marquez wobbling Pac at 130? Juan Manuel Marquez. Compared to Oscar getting dropped at 130 by Campanella and at LW by Valenzuela? C'mon man, Oscar was not the unbeatable beast of a LW you think he was. Pacquiao that fought David Diaz had a very good chance to beat him, and should be favored at 130-135 from what they each proved there. Floyd would be a big favorite to beat him also at 130-135 lol, it's true. His best wins outside Ruelas and Paez at LW were against SFWs, and he fought the best LW at JWW. I think after the Campanella and Valenzuela scares they decided they'd play it safe until they knew Oscar could handle himself against the strongest guys at those weights. And yes Camacho was drained. I don't know that anyone rates that as a great win. For me it was his most dominant win, but counts for little. And Gatti, JCC at WW weren't worth much either. I don't know how you can disagree. At the time, yes, by a round I think. I may have scored it a draw watching it back, but leaning to Trinidad, long time ago. You score fights round by round, Oscar blew the fight. Think I might rewatch this one
He was good but he always made that angry ****** face when he threw his combos. Like he was scared to hit people but knew his father would shove a shoe in his ass if he didn't.
I'll call your post bull! Quartey, Trinidad, Mosley and even to some a Pernell Whitaker rematch should have happened with a reasonable time frame. ......but DLH always put fights the fans wanted to see on the backburner and milked fighting the 2nd tier. There is no ****ing excuse for a Trinidad rematch not happening. The ****er voiced he thought he beat Trinidad but his actions spoke volumes. He made zero effort to make the Trinidad rematch happen. DLH's greed always got the better of him. He could'nt stand that anyone could ask for anything close to a 50/50 split, even after the **** lost matches to them. Mosley beat DLH with speed, quickness, and stamina in their fight at 147 lbs......its then DLH's choice to wait over 3 years to rematch Mosley and only after Mosley has lost twice to Vernon Forrest. Thats another thing about DLH. He never had the guts to face the fighters that beat the opponents who beat him. The two fighters that beat Mosley, Forrest and Winky, DLH would have none of. He ducked both Forrest and Winky. Hopkins was the only fighter that DLH faced that beat an opponent that beat him......and at that time DLH had little options for a real PPV money fight but to fight Hopkins. DLH not knowing Hopkins would still be around today, thought he take advantage of Hopkins' age.
This isn't a good example... David Diaz is one of the worst Champions at 135 in the history of boxing... as a matter of fact the 135 lb division was probably at its worst at that time.... the fact that Pac and JMM came from lower divisions and became pretty much champs doesn't eliminate that fact.... the 135 division was weak.
if you score the fight round by round, Trinidad didn't do anything the first 9 rounds. He may have won 2, but even then that's pushing it. When a fighter lands 120 more punches, that's a clear win. Oscar could have not thrown a punch the last 2 rounds and still won the fight clearly. But he still managed to outland Tito in the 11th or 12th, even during his so called marathon. Did Tito even land more than 1 punch a minute? lol ANd Miguel Gonzalez had a great chin. Was he ever even KO'd. I know Tzsyu TKO'd him but I think Gonzalez rarely hit the canvas.
Trinidad wanted too much money. oscar tried to make the fight but he was draw and Trinidad was acting as if he was. Not to mention everyone who was anyone in boxing thought Oscar won. You're an idiot though, no point arguing with another delusional hater.
