Is a win over Pacquiao enough to lift Floyd above Pac in the ATG rankings?

    I hear you Megavolt!

Im just saying-they right around each other on the ATG rankings-all these *******s in here claiming Pac is "20 spots ahead" lmfao-.

its arguable is what I'm saying-people saying "20 spots ahead" is going overboard..

The stats in this poll support me as well...and these stats are about like this over at the scene. the hype and a few other boxing forums too:deal

edit-at the time of this post they did support me-they still do now too.

edit: oh didnt see your post lol i can live with they're right around each other id have pac around 25-30, floyd 30-35 around there theres some old lists with Pac not in the top 50 and floyd barely edging top 50 but that was in 2007 and both have done quite a bit since then

It's a good question but you can't keep the mooks out of one like this. You might as well have come to us on the classic section for rational talk. At least the haters know what they're hating there.

I dunno this is a tough one. I think whoever wins will go down as the better fighter, not that should be the case, but it's nonetheless there. It's kinda like Whitaker vs Chavez. I consider Chavez the better fighter because the fight was at past their prime and past their ideal weight classes, especially for Chavez. In their primes, Chavez has the better resume and imo would have beat Whitaker. At least both fighters have solid resumes compared to these two.

Similar situation here. Both fighters have holes in their and have been doing some cherry picking and ducking and dodging along the way so it's hard for me to tell how good each is. I think Pacquiao has done a bit more, taking out Barrera and Morales even though they were on the slide, Pac was very green. Even though I think he has lost to Marquez, they were still close fights and went either way. His vicotories over those three plus championships in 8 weight classes I would consider much better than any accomplishment Mayweather has had.

Mayweather has the skill and talent, but he's wasted it not taking on almost every serious challenge. On the other hand, Pacquiao has overcome technical skill challenges and taken out some of the very best fighters of this generation.

There is not a lot between both guys as it his whoever you rank higher in greatness... if Mayweather beats Pacquiao by anything other than gift decision then he should definitely rank higher, how much higher depends as I said on the manner of victory, he`s already a better & more skillfull fighter than Pac, he just ****ed himself by retiring after Hatton & his inactivity once he finally came back.

No way Floyd has a better resume than Pac whatever you think about the abilities of either fighter. If Floyd was to beat Pac that would put them about equal as ATGs. If Floyd was to also beat Martinez then he would probably move ahead of Pac.

I don't have a problem with it as long as his win isn't some robbery or gift.

LOL, the man struggles with JMM and suddenly he's ranked in ALL TIME rankings way lower than Floyd to people.
How can Floyd have a better resume than Pac? Pac has only spent a few years at WW, and has 5x the resume at WW than Floyd. Floyd has made JMM move up to fight right below welter, Hatton had to move up, Ortiz had one fight at that weight, Judah was established but he definitely is a 140 pounder. Only one Mayweather beat that is a legit welter was Mosley.
Meanwhile Pac beats Cotto, Margarito, Clottey, DLH, and Mosley at welter. Basically... Pac beat the guys (cotto, marg, Clottey) mayweather was to afraid to fight.
This doesn't even take in to account Pac's main career at the lower weights. Morales, JMM, and Barrera.
Just because Pac struggled with JMM, ****... Even if you think pac lost to JMM in his last fight, there's no reasoning to have Floyd ahead. Floyd has a decent resume, but based on his skills, his resume is a peice of crap.
Floyd is like a chess player when it comes to the fight game (very stratigic at picking his opponents, when he picks them, his caution in the ring, etc), and Pac is like a checkers player (doesn't think to much, just fights whomever is in front of him, and not afraid to get hit). For this reason alone Pac ranks higher.

Floyd worst enemy = Himself. He retired a few times. Not good for an ATG. Can be used as a criticism... a way of avoiding oponents. Many people think Baldomir's fight was a mistake.

Pac worst enemy = His trainer. Roach has spoken too much... He's like an attention *****... He gave too many details about why was better for Pac to fight some fighters over others and under what conditions... The DLH interview/comments are the worst... it made Pac's victory over Oscar not as good as could have been.

He should just fight Martinez at 154 or even 160 and retire.

I think he'd win at either weight.
