Miguel Cotto vs a Prime Thomas Hearns at 154

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Earl-hickey, Jan 20, 2012.

  1. Agreed... We tend to hype of the fighters from the 80s. Cotto DEFINITELY has a chance to not only beat Hearns, but to KO his ass too.

Silly to think Hearns KOs Cotto easy. It's just a foolish thought.

Exactly how many prime eyebrow plucking fighters has Hearns beaten?

I'm a Cotto fan... but the "hit man" puts Cotto to sleep.

Hearns knocks him out with his jab alone.

This is a joke thread, right?

I respect the hell out of Cotto -- he is a fantastic fighter -- but he's not winning this fight and is likely going to get bombed out, fast.

There's no shame for Miguel being picked to lose widely here.Tommy is one of the greats of the modern era and his power sometimes makes people forget what a fabulous boxer he was with it.I think the way referees are more cautious now would mean a stoppage would be more likely than a sparkle. There are plenty of top fighters who would lose to Tommy.
All the talk of Cotto taking a knee's a tad cruel. Not easy to breath with your nose buttered across your face.

Im a huge Cotto fan but Hearns would knock Pac and Mayweather out, Cotto wouldnt last more than maybe 4 or 5 rounds tops. Hearns went up to knock out guys much bigger than welterweights and Cotto isnt unstoppable.

You seem to be neglecting the fact that Cotto's hardly granite-chinned himself. He's a great boxer, but not a GREAT. Hearns has size, speed, and a thunderous right hand all in his favour. Sure Cotto has a chance, but it's not a very big one.
