Rigondeaux: I just don't see it.

    After watching that crappy fight last night and THEN reading about how "brilliant" Riggo was, I must be losing my damn mind. I thought Rico had a chance to win, but I had NO idea he'd go in there and FREEZE tha' fk up like that. And this was BEFORE the first punch. He was just plain FRIGHTENED! He didn't do **** and Riggo didn't do much more. I don't often pay attention to the numbers but for little guys, they threw and landed very FEW shots, even Cortez had to urge them to "fight". I was thoroughly dissappointed and for this guy to call out Donaire is a travesty. That's a four rd. fight at best, same if he fought WV11. If he won't willingly engage with a scared, light punching guy like Rico, wtfk would Donaire or Vasquez do to this guy? The eight rd. under card fight was a LOT more entertaining and that tells it all. Funniest part of the night was when they had Chuck Giampa on the mike saying with a stern face, "I'm gonna' tell you what the judges think and then HE couldn't even remember what thal fk HE was gonna' say next, and that **** happened twice. I was on the floor laughing my ass off. I had seen Ramos in previous fights, turn and walk away after thinking he was fouled, he better be glad he wasn't in there with Floyd and turned his back.

    It wasn't an exciting fight but Rigo did what he had to do. OF course he could have done more and the fighting was pretty boring, but he was waiting for Rico to open up and fight... Not just stand there.
    Rigo is a counter puncher, and was waiting to counter. Much like how the Floyd vs JMM fight was crap because JMM a counter puncher had to be more aggressive, and then JMM does well against Pac. It's just styles... Put Rigo in there with somebody willing to fight, not afraid to fight, and he's going to put on some good fights.

    :verysad nonsense, but u are entitled to your opinion.
    the undercard was more entertaining, i agree. A couple of kids-one of them a teenager- getting constantly tagged on the head and ripping each other appart with no idea of defense or footwork.It was fun to watch as a show.But i wonder how long they are gonna last in the sport.
    To understand Rigo's science you have to understand boxing.

    I don't know. Watching Rigondeaux is pretty much the equivalent of watching golf. That being said Rigondeaux > Ramos. Rico Ramos got completely lucky by winning that WBA belt.

    I definitely see it.Got a feeling he's one of these fighters who really needs a live challenge to get fully motivated.Think he'll look OK when he's expected to walkover,and excellent when someone really gives him something to think about.
    The way he opened Ramos body and defence up with those overhead lefts was textbook stuff.And the fact he hasn't been battle scarred will serve him well at an age where most guys would be slowing down.

    Good post. Yup his style isn't the most fan friendly, but he boxes and doesn't take risks he doesnt have too. A good volume or pressure fighter that isn't afraid to take shots or get Rigo out his comfort zone would be great. Wouldn't mind Rigo taking on Mares, Darchinyan, Agbeko and eventually Donaire. But a fight sooner with Nonito the better.

    I'm not suggesting for a minute Nonito wouldn't fancy this fight,but I've a feeling he'll do his best to spin it out for a year or two yet.It would be such a good fight though.:good
