I would like Peterson to do it but my gut feeling is for Khan to win a decision. I worry that Lamont had a "perfect storm" that night.Got a feeling he'll only fight like that a couple of times against bigger names.Hope I'm wrong though,he's a likeable guy.
Honestly i think Peterson fought the best fight of his life while Amir got alot wrong on the night. Amir to win the rematch fighting alot smarter than he did last time. If it happens.
lamont can dig deeper than that, how on earth was that his best performance lol ? he had to chase khan down and for anyone who has boxed a bit i'm sure you will agree that chasing someone that don't wanna fight is frustrating.
khan lost it by slugging with a man who can slug well. He wont make the same mistake, will win by decision by sticking and moving. There is nothing that Peterson can do against that kind of agility and hand speed, short of a lucky KO. I think that just because Lamont had to chase last time, doesnt change that, he will just have to chase some more because Khan wont try to slug it out again.
Khan boxes more intelligently and stays in the middle of the ring, picking his shots more to preserve stamina. By the time Peterson catches up to him and gets inside again it's already too late. Khan UD in a fairly impressive showing from both men the next time around.
I think Peterson looks even better this time around because he's tasted what little power Khan has and will have zero respect for him rather than starting somewhat tentatively. He also sees now that Khan has no ability to fight off of the backfoot and he will apply constant pressure en route to shattering that disgraceful Glass Jaw. Khan is simply one more guy in a long line of China Chinned British Hype Jobs and, if this fight goes down, it will likely be the final nail in the myth that he is a top-flight fighter.
Petersen, and to all the people who voted for Khan - what did you see in the first fight that suggests Khan can deal with Petersen's style? Khan might get on his bike in the rematch and hope for favorable judging but if Petersen can close the space as well as he did in the first fight I do not see where Khan can go? Gonna say that Petersen can Knock Khan Out in a rematch as he will know how weak Khan is on the inside.
Both guys showed they coud adjust in the ring but idk....I usually go with the guy with better natural talent but this is a matchup where I go with intangibles.....Peterson is a determined guy and now knows that he cant afford to fight Khan in the center of the ring....in order to win he has to follow the game plan he had in the first fight round 3 and on.....Khan doesnt use a jab for all his speed and physical gifts and doesnt sit on his punches....hard to stop a hard charging opponent without a jab and bodyshots......its 50/50 but im going with peterson who will thrive off being champion and still being counted out to win. Also IMO Freddie Roach is so overrated as a trainer, I cant remember him working with a guy from the ams to the pros and making them champ, he always trains guys who already showed promise(Khan, Pacquiao) or future and former champs like Toney, etc.
I think Peterson will stalk him from the 1st round, he got khans timing down last time, from round 3, if he cuts the ring off well and roughs khan up on the inside from the start, he could well win by stoppage.
