He is a very good trainer, has trained many good and great fighters but their is a glaring fact to me.....Most the guys he trains are/were already accomplished amatuers or pros before they got to him.....Virgil Hill, Mike Tyson, Manny Pacquaio, Amir Khan, James Toney etc......He has done great but imo it is a bit inflated especially considering he is training Manny Pacquiao who had already won a title before getting with him.....Trainers like Emmanuel Steward, Teddy Atlas, and Angelo Dundee had guys they developed from the very start and made them standout amatuers, then pros, and some HOFers

Come on, you have to give freddy full credit for pac.
Without him there is no way pac would have been as successfull.

Without careful matchmaking pac wouldn't have been as successful marquez showed he's still the same ole Pacquiao.

Since he has been with Roach he has not changed much as a fighter so who is to say he wouldnt have been as successful... he still has a porous jab, defense and right hand altogether..Manny beat the lineal flyweight champion before ever getting with Roach and was a starved kid back then....if anything roach did was have him better nutritioned and fighting in a better weight class......its rare a fighter wins their second title 3 divisions away from his first title even the little guys......Manny always had the talent and already proved it....Atlas, Steward or even a 2nd tier top trainer would have helped him win other titles, he is was that naturally gifted and determined regardless who trained him

Then his matchmaker should have been shot. Morales, Barrera, JMM, Cotto are a murderer's row of fighters.

I'd say Mayweather Snr is the most overrated trainer ever.

His son has a natural gift so he can't claim responsibility for that. Plus Roger has been the man throughout Floyds best years anyway.

Dela Hoya was already big when he went to Snr.

By name, but in all fairness its not who you beat but when you beat them.......Cotto was coming off a bad showing against Clottey and a beating from Margarito so at least his psyche if not physical was shot, JMM got dominated by Mayweather, struggled with Katsidis and two wars with Diaz they thought he'd lost a step....he did, he sure isnt the guy he was at 126-130.......As far Morales and Barrera had he fought them in their prime we wouldnt even be talking about pacquiao, there wars with each other took alot out of them.......the Manny at featherweight that beat them would be hard pressed to have defeated them around or before the time of their first fight when both were still young and very few wars

agreed.....DLH looks so unnatural trying to shoulder roll lol...thats why i said one of the most overrated....Snr tries to make everyone use his defensive posture or too defensive and both always get guys after they have already had some success in the pros

Hes not the genius some people make him out to be but he is a very very good trainer. Certainly one of the best around at this current time.

freddie is a great trainer . i just think he is getting up there in age, his disease, and he has a **** load of fighters.

the age and the disease go 2gether its getting worse and worse.

then he takes on more and more responsibility by taking on all these fighters to train he cant have time 2 put full and equal wrk into all of them .

As an offensive trainer he's one of the best in the business if not the best. Defensively is fighters lack great dimensions but it is what it is.

As for trainers, think about it, the Bulls probably would have won a championship with Jordan and Pippen without Phil Jackson would they have been a dynasty a coach can only do so much.
