Anyone still think price is going nowhere after last nights demolition

His power made the difference but he still let McDermott get into range with minimal effort and land punches, thats going to cost him big if he doesn't sort it out.

 

He has more application than he has a chin thats his main dowfall...Larry just cant take em..can give a good wallop and he has zero technique.

All became champs for a while....didnt have Iron chins now.

 

No one is getting carried away though, as if its avant garde to say 'lets not get carried away'.

A few people are excited, the guy just knocked out a Grade A journeyman in style thats all...I havent seen anyone say he will be a dominant champion.

He will deffo get a title shot, as literally anyone decent with a nice record gets one at the moment...if he improves then he will be a dominant force if he stagnates, and big punchers get to him then so be it.

Id rate Price around top 30 in the world at the moment, with a bunch of other prospects like Glazkov, Abulsalmov, Fury, Mitchell.

 

He did a number on Big John and that says something about his punching. He also took a couple of flush shots and didn't even flinch so that says something about his chin.

It was a good night out for Mr Price. It looks like it will take a world level player to test him; whether he will pass that test or not remains to be seen but he definitely needs to start playing with the big boys. Fury? Stepping stone.

 

It was an impressive victory but again he was not really tested, i wont get excited until i see him pull through against a high level opponent like Chisora or Peter, that kind of opponent.

 

I really can't see a lot, if anything at all, in Price's performances as of yet which gives weight to the negativity that some people still have around him. The transition to pro boxing was one of the things most people worried about for him when he left the amateurs but to me he has taken a very sensible & disciplined, if rather slow, approach.

The importance of top class sparring for a prospect is often underrated but he has understood the benefits of it and is clearly improving with every step up in class he's having, rather than stagnating as many unbeaten young fighters do. He's refining a clear style based on his physical attributes, as he ought to do, and the confident but realistic mindset he seems to be developing has impressed me also in this age where younger fighters seem to think they can just turn up and blow every opponent away.

It just seems to me that he's getting an unjust rough ride on here because although some of the hype is over the top, at least in Price's case he seems to be taking a measured, sensible approach to his career and is not buying into the plaudits coming his way. Which can't be said for others, Degale for example

 

Good performance from him last night, showed strong finishing instincts. Nobody has done before him or expected him to put Big John away the way he did.. and although not a world beater himself, Big John is a solid domestic test to get an idea of just how good a fighter is.

IMO, Price will stop Fury. Fury's defence leaves a lot to be desired and he is often open to the right hand (Price's money shot). Also the fact that he can be dragged out of his game plan and into a fight very very easily could possibly work against him in this one because once Price hurts him (and there would come a point where he would) Fury would start swinging, that would then be his down fall.

 

Im not sold on Price yet.
If he beats Fury then I will reconsider. I just cant imagine Price beating a fighter like Chisora

The problem with Price is going to be the chin. He has a lot of ability and, from what I've seen, a surprisingly good defence for this stage of his career. I believe he'll eventually fight for a world title, I just don't think he's a likely champion.
