Anderson Silva: I don't see anyone in Brazil that can beat Jon Jones

I'm not saying those guys you mentioned have no chance at all to defeat Silva. But none of them can make a superfight with Anderson. Sonnen has the best chance to win. But what happens if Silva beats him again? What does he gain? Nothing - other than a typical payday. Silva neither gets recognition nor enhances his legacy. It's almost a lose-lose situation for Anderson.

I'll be fine if Silva-Jones never happens. I won't take anything away from Anderson. But I'd like to see nothing short of gutsy matchmaking especially when we've seen warriors like Hendo go all balls out against Fedor. Prime or not Hendo would've fought him in any weight class, any era.

If there has ever been a champion that needed to change divisions, it's Anderson.

Except that with five genuinely interesting challengers (Bisping, Munoz, Palhares and rematches with Belfort and Sonnen) middleweight has a deeper pool of contenders than any other division.

True, but at the same time, how many of those fights could he possibly take before retiring? And the only ones that would actually be competitive would be Munoz and Chael. I'm pretty sure the Chael fight will fall through, and by the time Munoz digs himself out of his injury "hole" a year may have passed. I just don't think Anderson is going to stick around that long.

I almost think it's too late for him to move up anyways.. It should have happened a while back. He would have easily sealed his place as the GOAT. No one at LHW would have had anything for Anderson. It's probably the second worst division as far as diversity goes. Just a bunch of strikers. Like I've said before, his reign was timed perfectly. No point in risking his legacy by handing Jones an Old Anderson on a platter.

Probably the most important piece of info in regards to this conversation is when he wants to retire. Until we know that, speculation is almost pointless.

There's plenty there for The Spider to work with, and the 'puppet-master' Dana White obviously sees it that way too.

:deal Its quite clear Fedor, BJ and Hendo are cut from a different cloth than Anderson

Dana doesn't want superfights. He wants strong champions it seems. GSP vs Silva and Silva vs Jones seem dead in the water. Soon people will discuss Jones vs JDS maybe and I doubt that will come off easily.

Superfights? JDS hasn't even defended his belt yet and Jones has only 2 defenses. At 1 time an Anderson -GSP fight was getting momentum but that has changed in the last year with different challengers emerging in each division.

Imo those fights will end in the same way 9 out of 10 times: with the naturally bigger guy winning. I think the St-Pierre/Penn rematch is an indicator. Anderson would probably finish GSP, and Jones would probably finish Anderson. Personally, I am not that thrilled at the idea of such fights.

Is not surprising the best MMA fighter of all time behind Royce Gracie can have so many haters and doubters. Silva has proven himself time and time again he doesnt need to fight jones to prove anything. Is jones that needs silva to be able to raise his brand and his hype.

Must fans are stupid like that always ready to move on to the next big thing and to **** on the ones that have done it better than anybody is call jealousy.
