Lets say Hatton from the Kostya fight, his absoloute peak, takes on the Miguel Cotto from the Holt/Torres fights. (If anyone has a different opinion on when his 140lb peak was, feel free. It was not the Paulie fight though)

    Who would you see winning?

Personally, I'd pick Hatton. Cotto should not of been at 140 and weakened himself to make weight, the last thing you need when you're in that state, is an aggressive fighter swarming you and hitting you in the body. Hatton had the faster feet, and probably hands too, I think he'd end up out working Miguel to a UD or possibly even a late TKO (Holt and Torres both shook Cotto)

Cotto has the better skills, but would his physical skills allow him to use them?

(At 147, Cotto stops Hatton in 9)

    Who you picking?

    Tough fight to pick.

Cotto was a bit too green (in that he didn't have a lot of experience against quality opposition) at 140.

On that note, I'd tip Hatton.

And I also think Cotto would only decision Hatton at 147, in a close one. (Again, this is a pre Mayweather and Pac Hatton at 147).

he really did not belong at 140,we was alot weaker there..ill go with Hatton..to much stamina and we all know Cotto hates pressure

If in England with an English ref, Cotto by decision.

The 147 right intruged me, the only reason I went for a stoppage at that weight was that Cotto would be a little physically stronger than he'd be at 140, I think this would let him create the space to find more accurate punches.

I'd favour Cotto. Although Hatton could outwork him, assuming he could take, and push through Cotto's shots. Cotto's jab would be a key factor if he was to win. Cotto would be stronger in terms of strength, so I can't really see Hatton bullying him back on to the ropes. Maybe something like the Urango performance from Hatton is needed.

But yeah, I'd favour Cotto. Cotto is a level below Mayweather and Pacquiao, IMO. But a level above any other Hatton opponent (taking the times Hatton fought them in to consideration).

Perhaps so. The Tszyu that fought Hatton, if he fought Cotto in the states, would have a VERY VERY good chance against Cotto.

Prime Tszyu destroys Cotto at 140. No doubt.

Hatton could have the style to overwhelm Cotto at 140, but I just see Cotto being on another level to Ricky really and beating him to the punch all night to a decision victory

Cotto in a war. He'd keep him at a distance often with his footwork and strong jab, and wear him down with the superior fire-power on the inside. Ricky's know-how on the inside would win him some rounds and do damage, but Cotto would eventually wear him down and either win a clear decision or stop him late.

    Cotto was made for Tszyu.

Disagree. I think Tszyu would have Cotto in trouble on occasions, maybe even a knockdown...but he was not the same fighter (taking nothing away from Hatton's victory). But Cotto at 140 was a lot hungrier, didn't know how to lose, and took a big Margarito to make him submit.

Cotto at 147 is a level above Ricky Hatton, at 140 Cotto was inexperianced, and easily wobbled with a good shot, as I mentioned, if you've had to melt down to a weight that's not healthy for your body, the last thing you want, is that body brutalised.

It would be a body punching festival.

I have three fantasy fights for Hatton at 140 in recent times

    Hatton - Cotto
    Hatton - Judah
    Hatton - Gatti (War)

Edit : I could make a decent argument that Hatton at 140, was a level above Cotto. In terms of overall, a few of you are correct, Cotto will be remembed as a much better fighter.
