In all seriousness, I don't think Martinez has earned the right to call out Pacquiao for his opponents seeing as how his last fight was against Dazzling Darren Barker.
Yeah, right! That's good enough except that he wanted the midgets Pac and Floyd who started at flyweight and superfeatherweight respectively to fight him at 154!
On the contrary, Pac legend started when he moved up above 135 starting with ODLH fight at 147 where every expert expected him to be slaughtered by Oscar.
What's up with the double standards? So Sergio can stop going up in weight, while Pac has to? WTF? And don't give me that he has a belt at 154 bull****...he IMMEDIATELY said he was gonna stay at 147 after that fight as 154 is too big. Either Sergio goes to 147 or he needs to shut the **** up and fight Ward.
I totally agree with you on the double standards everyone uses. Martinez/Pac can't be made unless ofcourse Martinez goes down to 147lbs which he can't. Martinez/Mayweather has a more possibility of been made since Mayweather can go to 154lbs, specially with talks of him fighting Canelo and/or Cotto which won't be at 147lbs. But the only reason Martinez wants Pac and Mayweather is because of the money! This content is protected This content is protected
Is Team Pac still thinking of going above 147 for his future fights? Absurd. They can't even decide who will they fight this year, and they are thinking Williams or Cintron. Get Bradley, Marquez or Mayweather, Jr and retire. This is getting boring.
Yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu got what i neeeeeed
You're asking too much from Pacquiao. 154 is good enough. He can finally say he's a legitimate 8 division champion.
That's all well and good. But at the same time, he should acknowledge and respect their decision if they don't want to fight him. He is, after all, two weight divisions bigger than them. Instead, he calls them cowards and disrespects them for not wanting to fight him :verysad. Kinda' hypocritical when you consider the fact that he won't even look towards the 168 pounders himself.
I remember he almost choked when the proposition of facing Hopkins at a catchweight was thrown to him . In fact, I think Bute has even offered one to him. Don't see Sergio being too keen on them.
Most of his call-outs of Pacquiao have been qualified by his saying that the size differential makes it unlikely. Even so, it's still perfectly justifiable to criticize the quality of Pacquiao and Mayweather's opponent selections. Beyond this, Martinez did say he'd be willing to fight Ward at 164. Bute's offering of a catchweight at 166 was not the least bit serious and I doubt he could make that weight anyway. Hopkins has said any fight with Martinez would have to occur at a full 175; Martinez turning that fight down is not the least bit hypocritical since he's never once demanded that Mayweather, Pacquiao, or Cotto could only fight him at 160.
WRONG.. Martinez said he is willing to fight anyone as long as it's fair to both parties. Go watch the interview again. This.. Pac fans are too sensitive. Martinez was just having some fun.
If he acknowledges the excessive size difference and the fight being unlikely, then why continue to call him a “coward”, etc, for not willing to face him. Like I said, him wanting to get the biggest payday is understandable, but you can’t blame fans for being annoyed by him when he goes and says stuff like that. And sure you can criticize Pac and May’s recent opponent selection, but, if you yourself haven’t come anywhere close to achieving what they have, and have recently undergone a similar streak of cherry-picking, then again, expect some backlash for that, too. And Hopkins did at one point offer a catchweight (I can’t remember what it was exactly - 170 I think?), and Martinez laughed it off in that Barker post-fight interview. He didn’t even try a counter-proposal. He dismissed the thought of it immediately. The same for the Bute one. Whether Bute was being serious or not, I don’t know, but Martinez showed no interest in negotiating with them to bring that 166 down to 164. Which suggests they’re not too keen on fighting the bigger, more dangerous guys that are high-risk/low-reward, just like Pac and May aren’t, either.
