Guys, before we get too excited about David Price's devastating first round KO over McMuffin, we need to remember something.

McMuffin was dreadfully fat and out of shape.

For the Price fight, McMuffin weighed 271 lbs, which the fattest he's been in his 12 year long professional career. That's 18 lbs more than he weighed against Tyson Fury in 2010.

Is it really impressive that Price demolished a totally out-of-shape McMuffin? Looks to me as if McMuffin didn't even train for this fight.

We get it, you came up with a semi-clever name for him and want to use it.

Now for your own reality check:

When a fighter is out of shape, it is indeed a detriment, because it will cause him to gas out early. However, it doesn't sap his power or defensive skills, at least not in the early rounds.

Price took him out in what, 90 seconds? So conditioning did not really play a factor.

Tyson Fury coined the "McMuffin" nickname; I didn't. I think it's a good name, so I'll use it.

Reality check for you: McMuffin's obesity -- unusual even by his standards -- raises serious doubt about whether he trained sufficiently to maintain his timing, poise, defensive reactions, reflexes, capacity to manuever, etc. If so, he would have been a sitting duck from the opening bell.

    Think it over...

Mcdermott and his camp were pissed as there scales showed him to be 18.5st, they believe the weigh in scales were innacurate.

Mcdermott said the scales were faulty by over a stone, I personally find that hard to believe but even so he's never been a 1 round pushover.

The scales were accurate enough regarding Price's weight who was within the 4 pound range that he has been boxing within from the go.

McDermott and his team are disgraceful.

McDermott will never be nothing more than a morbidly obese Lee Swaby.

It was impressive, stopping John McDermott in one round isn't that easy.

But McDermott was in horrible condition (as usual), and Price had nearly every physical advantage you can think of. I think Price is a good prospect but it's hard to use this fight to judge just how good he really is.

I read on another forum that McDermott was looking good and was aiming for 250 for fight night. Seeing this as his chance at redemtpion vs Fury.

What a crock of **** that was.

He was talking how he was gonna use this win to get him bigger better paying fights to support his family.

What he should do is come to America so guys like Wilder, Mitchell, Rodriguez, Madison, and Scott can pay him 20K to see who can KO him the fastest.

He could make all 5 fights inside 6 months while earning 100K and possibly winning a couple since he himself does have some respectable power.:deal

i think john came in the fight, knwoing he couldt go past 5 rounds due to him being so unfit. He went out all guns blazing like he did aginst larry in his previous fiht, however pricey is a classy boxer and saw the gap, bang.
Its a shame as john in the past has shwon tremendous heart n grit in some tough tough fights over full 12 rounds..
