haha how's that? Have you calculated it or something? Don't hate on my parade ******. Dammmm son, you be hating on my dam parade, wow.
Great thread. I've been meaning to find out more about the classic fighters for a while now. The poor quality footage has always put me off but it's fascinating to listen to stories about these guys. I won't contribute since I know **** all about these guys, but will check out all these fighters.
I thought you were trying to end our friendship there:| On a serious note though, it must be one of them that fought the most championship rounds if you read it was griffith and I read it was Dixon. Maybe someone else knows?
If you wanted you could always check out the classic fighters who are in colour as opposed tot he black and white ones. Footage of the likes of Napoles and Zapata and them is the ****.
Anyone know of some good footage from British Pathe? Their website has got loads of clips of British boxers. I watched some clips on Peter Keenan not too long ago, Scottish bantamweight legend and ruler of the domestic division in the 50s. He's the only Scotsman to win 2 Lonsdale belts outright and he looks a great fan-friendly fighter from the limited clips of him. Doesn't look like the fighter that would give you inch in a fight and had some decent pop in his right hand. Lost his only challenge for a world title to Vic Toweel in 1952. Some footage of him.... http://www.britishpathe.com/video/keenan-kos-osullivan - Knocking out Danny O'Sullivan to win the British Title in 1951 http://www.britishpathe.com/video/keenan-outpoints-frenchman - winning the vacant Euro belt in 53 http://www.britishpathe.com/video/keenan-k-os-kelly - Stopping John Kelly in a rematch after he had lost to him on points a year earlier http://www.britishpathe.com/video/special-for-scotland-keenan-keeps-his-title - Great footage, 7 mins of highlights from his defence against George O'Neill. http://www.britishpathe.com/video/keenan-k-os-tuli - Stopping some hard African dude, looked like a very tough fight! Most the clips are only 1-2 minutes long apart from the 7 minute highlight but it's all well worth a watch, would love to see a full fight of his to get a better understanding of what kind of fighter he was.
I've acually got some colour footage of the second Rudkin vs McGowan fight but we're only doing b/w on here aren't we?
Looks well in control there old Jim! I've got a learn yourself boxing book of Driscoll and in it he says you don't even have to be a good infighter if your a master out fighter.
You're who this thread is designed for, as you're eager, open-minded and willing to give it a try. Teeto's post is exactly what I was hoping for; let's you know what to loom out for (the technical analysis was boss BTW la, cheers) Ant': Pathe is a great source, thanks :good Shame the only footage of Tommy Watson is him being given a hero's welcome rather than any in-ring footage:-( Keep up the good work lads; hopefully those less inclined to get involved will end up getting the chance to observe some of the great fighters from our history. I'm half and half on McLarnin BTW Teeto; does he count as 'Irish'? I never know what to classify the first wave of U.S immigrants as myself, as they became synomonous with the States. If he's fair game, I'll take the bait, certainly a brilliant black&white fighter ;-)
How about you post it ANYWHERE?!?! Not in this thread, as otherwise the floodgates will open ;-) But I guarantee I don't speak for myself only when I say I'd love to see it :good
And Ant :bowdown Will HAVE to check out that footage of Keenan, who fought in a Bantamweight era I'm interested in, cheers mate.
Nice one lad, glad you liked it. Well I just go by where they were born like and he was born in Ireland so yeah. If you wanna do someone else though just go for it, it's bound to be good whatever you do.
