Could always ask his dad he did it with Eubank. Who knows what will happen but i don't blame DeGale for this if it's down to not being paid. Have to see what unfolds.
I think Degale is a risk worth taking to be honest. He is the european champion with only one loss in his 12 or so fights, and the loss to groves was a pretty thin one. If Mick could get him, it'll do great business on Channel 5. They can spin the gold medal angle. And could you imagine the hype for degale - groves II on channel 5! Hearn would be my bet tho. He would be great support for his big guns (barker, Froch and Brook), and he'll be back on sky
Stick him on Channel 5 & get the gold medal hyped a bit more? DeGale vs Eubank Jr. a few years down the line?
Come on! He's a flake. He's got no fanbase, an ugly ass style and not much potential beyond his current level. He was lucky against that Pole too. He's too expensive to be worth the hassle that goes with him. And Mand, Hearn Sr took that chance because, like him or not, Eubank put arses in seats and when it came down to it, he actually won the fight with his domestic rival.
Even if Hearn was interested in signing DeGale, I don't think he'd rush into anything. He holds all the aces as far as I can see - decent stable, SKY contract, Matchroom not reliant on boxing etc....
Thing is Hearn tried to sign Groves and only didn't cos of his GBP situation and from what i heard Groves vs Smith was half empty so Hearn may just be looking for names to add and not worrying about tickets.
A flake Degale was caught with silly shots in his last fight, but James had him going in the third, and if he hadnt of slipped, he would have probably taken him out. I still think he'd do good business on Brook, Barker or Froch undercards for the time being
:deal And Matchroom are on Sky. Won't be long before Boxnation goes bust and a few FW fighters jump ship to Matchroom.
Other boxers will rarely come out and say they are unhappy with their manager/promotor. But I'll ask you this, if you did a job and wasn't paid the full amount, would you be pissed off?
why did ****** pay so so much money for DeGale anyway? Its not like there were many out there to rival him in those stakes, but he went all BBC regarding audley when signing DeGale it seems.
he couldnt have claimed in 'injury'? Seems like DeGale is drawing a line and I suppose in a sport where he could be hurt or one where his promoter might cast him aside in the event of a couple of losses its pretty reasonable
He's not getting it from Frank though, is he? From the sounds of things he's getting **** all from Frank
