If Cotto elects to fight Pacquiao on June 9th; Would that mean he ducked Mayweather?

He'd make around the same or more Money fighting Floyd on May 5th so if he chooses to fight Pacquiao instead on June 9th; Should that be considered a duck?

    Thoughts?

If cotto picks pac, it's because he feels he can avenge his loss. Floyd would be a nightmare for cotto, especially since floyd has grown into the higher weightclasses, cotto can no longer try and walk him down.

I think taking either guys on would be same for him....In regards to him being heavy underdog..

I would take pac on due to wanting to avenge loss.

he would be fighting someone who have beaten and stopped him decisively. if anything, cotto fighting pac again to avenge his loss is a gutsy move.

Beating floyd gives him more legacy points and superstar status than beating pac at this point, the rematch would be the megafight if he beat floyd.

That's exactly why it could be considered a duck.. Why not take the bigger challenge for possibly more money?

Cotto never was in a big hurry to step int he ring with Floyd....NEVER

Nor was Arum in a rush to put him in there with Floyd either....

If this was the choice to avenge vs marg then you have a point but avenging vs a p4p top 3 boxer for equal money cant be a duck imo.

Nah...PAC beats him up worse then Floyd could or will....floyd would just outbox him where as PAC will look to stop him quicker then last time...he loses both fights

I honestly think Cotto will do alright against Pacman. He will lose a SD.

If he doesn't pick Mayweather now he's moved away from Top Rank and the problems with making the fight gone then I think it's fair to say he's never been in a rush to get in the ring with him.

How would this be a duck if no agreements were made yet? If Floyd or Cotto comes out and says they are fighting, and then Cotto backs out later for the Pacquiao fight, that would be a duck.

I don't really understand the angle of this thread. Is this just to give Floyd imaginary tough guy points if the Cotto fight isn't made?

ESB logic - If you didn't fight someone then you must have ducked them.
