if you look at the Nigel Benn tribute video on youtube you will see the odds on the 1st round KO.

its the one with the Prodigy song Smack my ***** up on it.

 

I watched it last night & recken McClellan never even trained for this fight, he was proberbly convinced it would be another blast out. He was forcing his gum shield out as early as the 3rd & starting to speed blink in patches.

 

Difficult to say for this.

McClellan strikes me as a bit of a gym-rat to be honest, but the pace of the fight was insane, but also his trainer (if I'm being kind) wasn't the best, so if he isn't getting driven with the intensity he should be in training and hasn't been set up with quality sparring it could have affected things.

Could be a mix of things, but I'd put it down first to the facts we know, and I think everyone knows he was three rounds into a WAR...

 

Its cool seeing Bruno and Hamed going buck mad in the background.

 

Yeh he must have thought what the **** is going on here when Benn got back up & survived the round & came out a blazing in round 2. I recken the damage was done real early to McClellan as he got nailed with left hand bombs a plenty from round 2.

 

I'm certain the damage to McClellan was done in round one, a wild counter left hook off the ropes from Benn seemed to land on the spot where the clot actually formed, and actually seemed to be Nigel's wrist that struck Gerald's head (no cushioning).

 

The damage was doneby Julian Jackson actually

 

McClellan thought "what the **** am facing here?"

he wasn't use to seeing someone coming roaring back at him and someone was actually egging him on to come forward and fight.

Benn hunted him all over the place.

 

The problems were there before he even stepped foot in Docklands that night.

 

A 5% Gerald was tearing Benn a new ******* throughout the fight. He dropped him twice and if the fight was anywhere but UK it would have ended as a first round KO. Gerald was a future great ruined by that intentional diving headbut.

 

Do you people just make this **** up as you go along?

 

benn-mcclellan is one of my favourite fights of all time.
i remember watching it the night it happened, i still watch it on dvd often, ive got the ITV version and the showtime one.
got the war baby book about the fight, and the programme off e-bay.
