Mosley is 40 years of ages and shot to ****, he had his last hurrah against Margarito and even that was 3 years ago now. The only reason this fight is even considered is that Mosley is still recognisable to the casual fan (who have seen him in there with potential ATG's Pac, May and ODLH). Mosley looked genuinely scared to throw a punch against Pac, and that doesn't bode well against someone young and fast like Khan. He can't drag Khan into the trenches because he no longer has it in himself to do so. Also his speech was slow and slurred before the Pac fight and I'd hate to see a legend like Shane end up incoherent in a few more years just to make Khans record look a bit better. So to summarise its a ****ing awful fight and Khan should fight someone who still has a bit of fight in them. Mosley landed an average of around 6 punches a round against Pac. SIX! He needs to retire and Khan needs to look for a FIGHT, not a barely legal beatdown. ****ing joke if this gets made.
That's a fair point, I can understand. In terms of a name though, who would you suggest? Or more so, who realistically could it be?
TBH Mosley has made it, How can you wake up at 5am for a run when lying next to.. This content is protected
Oh sorry, I thought you were just posting it to rile up the Khan fans. My bad on that one. Not the best fight that could be made, I wouldn't complain if it was though. Presscott's been impressive recently, put up some great showings against Mcloskey (which he won IMO) and then against Alvarado. Displayed a much improved jab and all round boxing ability in those bouts, and the Jargal fight. He hasn't earned a fight with Khan, but like I said, I wouldn't complain if it was made.
This is no longer an excuse in regard to Khan, he's coming off a loss, and even when he wasnt he was hardly fighting a who's who of world class operators. What had Salita done to get his shot at Khan? Malignaggi was 2-2 in his last 4 before fighting Khan. Now I think Prescott is a worthless fight for Khan as well, as he gets no credit from hardcore fans who see Prescott isn't all that good, and if he does somehow manage to lose it he really is bottom of the pile, and staring at a really tough couple of years to get himself back on track.
This :deal Its a very good fight, and neither are tested at 147, I'd like to see this fight at 140 or 147. One thing i still don't understand is why Guerrero is insistent in moving to 147 and skipping out 140, is it to chase big money fights?
There aren't that many big name fighters Khan could face, realistically. There's plenty of lower level contenders he could bounce back against, like Abregu, Cayo, Funeka, Jo Jo Dan who I wouldn't oppose Khan having a competitive tune up against. ****, they could let Khan devour Selcuk Aydin. That get's him a fairly high Welterweight ranking, not that much risk involved either IMO. I dunno though, at least the likes of Salita and Malignaggi were coming off wins. Malignaggi particularly with 2 very good showings against Juan Diaz. They didn't earn there fights with Khan, you're correct, but I'd go as far as to say Shane Mosley has un-earned himself a top level fight with his recent outings, most notably his tragic showing against Pacquiao. That's not the sole reason why I don't want the fight, of course, Shane is incredibly shot. I wouldn't just oppose the fight on the basis of Mosley not earning it, but it certainly does factor in IMO.
What's with Khans obsession with moving up in weight? He's not exactly cleared out 140, and he doesn't appear tight at the weight (he went 12 with Peterson and didn't look gassed despite eating a tonne of body shots). There's plenty left for him at 140, and for me its the best place for him to hone his skills, and hopefully build up an inside game of sorts. Moving up to 147 too early could seriously **** Khans career up, what happens if he moves up get's knocked out and suddenly decides he needs to move back down? I'm guessing Ariza will be bulking him up again which won't be a good idea if he has to get the extra weight back off again. He's still young and from the Peterson fight he's clearly not ready to move up to P4P level (Mayweather fight etc). I'd have him fight a couple of good contenders (Alvarado, Soto, Mattyhsse types) then have him rematch Peterson/Maidana or a big fight with Bradley. The only reason he's where he is now is down to his own fighting naivety, and the his own arsey behaviour in regards to handling defeat. The Peterson rematch was pretty much nailed on before he started being a dick and wanting to have the discussions over Christmas and New Year (can you imagine the uproar if it was someone DEMANDING negotiations with Khan throughout Ramadam and Eid, Khan fans would have had a ****ing field day with that).
