If Cotto elects to fight Pacquiao on June 9th; Would that mean he ducked Mayweather?

:patsch Just a ridiculous question to begin with. If he fights FLoyd, he ducked Manny, and if he fights Manny, he ducked Floyd...

WTF is wrong with people? :patsch

I'd be dissapointed if Cotto picked Pac over Floyd.

He can't duck a fighter he already fought. I think if he fights Manny again and loses we'll never see him fight Mayweather, but if he fights Mayweather and loses the Manny rematch is still possible. I never said I personally felt he was ducking, I just put the question out there on a pretty slow news day in boxing. Being that people have said Floyd ducked Cotto, and being that he now has probably the best opportunity to fight Floyd that he'll ever have; I think (according to ESB logic) that it can be argued that if he chooses to fight Pac instead it can be considered a duck.. Or at the very least people can say "See, told you he never wanted any part of Floyd" which some people here have already hinted. This is all for fun man, try not to be so uptight about this ****.

Yes it is a duck. Primarily by Pac. Secondarily by Cotto, though I don't really blame him. Why is he fighting a fight nobody wants to see and nobody sees him as having a chance to win? Why? Because Uncle Bob will force him to.

If Cotto wants to get paid AND do something for Boxing? Fight Mayweather on the May 5th.

The Pac fight not only would still be there, but would actually put Cotto in a MUCH better negotiation position if Pac's next fight is Mayweather and Pac loses. Win/Win for my man Cotto! :thumbsup

Well if he doesn't fight Mayweather and fights Pac to avenge his loss, and Mayweather doesn't fight Cotto to fight a Guerrero...it will reflect bad on someone, but not Cotto. That's been the problem people have had with Mayweather not making the fights he could have. It wasn't like DLH not fighting contender Forrest to fight Trinidad, WHitaker, Quartey...Floyd took lesser fighters on and lesser risks eg.Gatti over Tszyu, Mitchell/Judah over Winky, Judah/Baldo over Margs, retirement/Marquez over Cotto,Margs,P.Will,Mosley, Ortiz over Pac...Don't hate, not saying he ducked all of them, just that it looks bad, which it does because of the pattern

Anyway, I'd take the Mayweather-Cotto fight over Cotto-Pac. But i hope he fights neither next. They should be fighting each other, then after Cotto whoops Canelo, the winner of Pac-Mayweather vs him would be even bigger for ultimate supremacy from 147-154

Well, you must have missed the thousands of posts from floyd fans saying Pac ducked a second and then third fight w/ JMM. :D But i agree.

I hear ya. Meant no offense. I guess it depends on the circumstances. If Cotto wanted to avenge his loss, why not? he was the fighting champ when he lost to Pac. Certainly that's never been a terrible reason for a rematch. Nor should it even be seen as a duck. It's almost a lose-lose situation then. And if he lost, and that meant no fight w/ Mayweather. Then we fans lose out. But it certainly wouldn't entirely be the fault of cotto. The fight made the most sense in late 07, early 08.

Floyd beat DLH, Cotto beat Judah. The WW division was seen as the best in boxing.

He probably prefers Pac because he has a chance of winning.
But in the end, Cotto fights whoever gives him the most money.
    Thats it.

Nah...it's purely a business move. Whichever side offers the best deal. I doubt he's scared to fight either guy. Not to mention, he would be avenging a loss to Pac...and on the weekend of the Puerto Rican Day Parade.

I'd rather see him in against Floyd, personally...since that match-up still has some intrigue.
