That's the question, Maia seems to bring a little better standup each time out but I'm sure Weidman does also. I think this will mostly be a standup fight at first until the guy who's getting the worst of it tries to go to the ground.

Yea I can go with this. But it sounds odd to me that people think a guy with 7 fights under his belt will make easy work of a former title contender. Maia is an excellent fighter, so what makes people think Weidman is better than Maia?

I think it's more to do with Maia going stagnet more then anything, being a great BJJ will only get you so far nowadays.

Six people picked Weidman in this thread.

Yet in the prediction league thread it's 8-3 Maia. :think

Weidman just has a massive amount of natural talent and seems to get better each time he comes in. I was impressed with the way he dominated Sakara making his UFC debut on short notice in a massive step up for him, since then he's made easy work of everyone. Maia is a step up again, but one I think he has the tools to deal with.

Just watched the Weidman vs Lawlor fight, didn't get much of it. Weidman was successful in his first takedown attempt, and he submitted his opponent quickly. Not sure Maia is going to get taken down that easily, and I'm certain he won't get anywhere near being submitted by this guy. :think
