floyd once was the cash cow- but pacs populariry has skyrocketed the past two years in the usa, where he didnt have the fan base that american fighters such as floyd have. people that point to ppv nunbers in favour of floyd always point to common opponents- but that ignores the fact that pacs popularity has grown recently.

also to be ignored is undefeated and p4p status. that means **** all. its all about draw. its why tom cruise makes more money than daniel day lewis- who has all the awards in the world, because simply put, people put their arses in their seats and their hands in their wallets to watch cruise. same as pac, people pay to see pac fight, in person , on tv, they buy his shirts, his shoes, his posters, his games, his food. floyd will get a cut of every pac/money shirt- which will be more than he has ever seen- he should just get the deal done- they should both get the deal done, for the sake of it being done- and make this money and make this history.

it wont be there forever like they think, and when its gone, it ll be the biggest shame in boxing. imagine if either of these guys get s kod by someone else in may, or they never fight. boxing would have lost a great chance to be relevant again. i cant believe these guys are letting a couple million- when theyre making 60 million each- get in the way of something so huge. its like holding out for a pay rise from a job- when you re already set for life. cutting of their noses to spite their faces so to speak.

You should use gate numbers not attendance.

    equal 50 % 50 %

    why?

floyd may be the better fighter and the favourite to win the bout, but

pac fought more and better guys, he fought guys floyd wanted no part of like cotto & margarito, even clottey....
also pac is more famous than floyd, is more often in TV, jimmy kimmel show etc., also floyd is very famous himself, thats why its 50/50 cut.

Gate numbers are there, Pac had the bigger gate in 2 of the past 3 years going head to head too

Oh sorry, didn't notice that thanks and yeah I figured he would have the better gate.

Edit: Mayweather does gross more on average though. Nonetheless fight should be 50/50.

Because he fights once a year. Pacquiao actually became the first non-heavyweight to have two PPV do over 1 million buys in a year last year. It's proven impossible to do if you are not a heavyweight megastar. Infact I think Tyson was the only other boxer to do it..the other was Brock Lesnar, crazy UFC fans :nut Last time FLoyd fought twice in a year he fell short in the Hatton fight, and Oscar could never do it, couldn't even get close (1.4M and 570K in 99 vs Tito/SSM closest Oscar came)

That argument works both ways, I could say it's hard to gain hype/momentum when you fight once a year. On a side note, how the **** does Lesnar do those numbers he was a total hypejob disgrace.

I believe it should be 50/50. However, Floyd has generated more PPV buys.

Even Teddy Atlas who have supported Floyd in the past said it should be 50/50.

Atlas, who supported Mayweather for the majority of his campaign to make this fight, and supported Mayweather's position to have Pacquiao undergo a random drug testing protocol - does not agree with Mayweather's unwillingness to provide Pacquiao with an even split of the money.

"I think that at the end of the day, everybody has a little bit of bullsh*t in them - to be honest with you - everybody. I've given Mayweather the benefit of the doubt and I've been on his side in some areas, which has been an unpopular side to be on, but I have [been on his side] because I thought it was right to be on that side. But with all the bullsh*t back and forth, and there has been plenty of it in both courts, you can't say that you refuse to go 50-50 if you're Mayweather. You just can't do it,” Atlas told B o x i n g Scene.com.

“At the end of the day, if you want someone to believe, in earnest, that you want this fight then there are a lot of things that you can say that the other side hasn't done and you can point a finger at and make a case on, but this is not one of them. You can't say that you want the fight and then say that you refuse to give 50-50 to probably the biggest name in boxing right now."

"I don't think anybody can make a case, if they are being honest and they are really sober, on how they are not going to give 50-50 to Pacquiao. And you are talking about the guy who right now is the biggest engine in boxing. That's a losing argument. I don't see any way that he can win an argument, that he should get more than 50-50. To be honest with you, if you're Mayweather, I think he should be happy to get 50-50, because he's getting 50-50 in probably the biggest money fight in the history of the sport. That's doing good."

Mayweather's supports his position by pointing to a past comment made by Pacquiao, who during a recent interview with a Philippines newspaper, said he was willing to take less money to make a Mayweather fight. Atlas believes Mayweather is making a mistake by bringing up comments that were in the past, because the other side could take the same position.

"If he's going to go down that road, I don't think that's a road that Mayweather wants to travel down because there are a lot of things that Mayweather said in the past that he doesn't want to be held to. I'm sure there are a lot of things that Mayweather said in the past that he wants to forget," Atlas said.
