Disagreements with Degale and Frankie. Bellew also not on BN next. If ****** lost these 3 fighters he would probably have to pack it in. Hearn should show some bottle and go after Degale/Frankie and Bellew and strike the killer blow to ******. How sweet it would be to see ****** out on his arse
He just doesn't seem to have the money to do what he wants. I think the formation of BoxNation was an expensive gamble that, unfortunately for him, hasn't paid off. It's hard to see a way back for him, honestly.
Liquidate and then move into son's 'Queensbury Promotions'?. I think he knows he did wrong doing this, remember years back we spoke of pure boxing tv channels and we all wanted it but couldn't see it happening. This is main reason why.. With regards to Hearn, Eddie's riled him and Frank's first thought is to always make snide comments to threats. Eddie is his biggest threat right now. Hatton promotions are run as a tax loss i was told dunno how true that is (source works within sport). Mick ain't a threat at this point with his stable. Eddie's really forcing issue by signing and making fights and getting out there. He's on SSN letting himself be seen and interacting with fans. It's one thing Frank lacks and may be finishing blow.
I think it could work but it'd have to bring in more money than it currently does, likely meaning it being a non-subscription channel which relies on adverts and sponserships rather than PPV subscribers. I just don't think there are enough boxing fans to keep the channel afloat and the problem is, without a lot of fans watching these shows, how are they ever going to make Groves, DeGale, Cleverly etc., into big draws? The only way Hatton, Calzaghe, Naseem etc., managed it was by being on TV in front of millions. I just don't see how it could ever work, especially in the long term. There is no way they could ever make future stars given how limited the exposure would be.
True and I enjoyed the free boxing on telly then didnt give a flying **** when they took it off cant be mad at something you didnt have before, ill go back to the pub to get my boxing
I think Boxnation may have been okay if wasn't subscription and he kept the cost down by showing his undercard fights and foreign fights that wouldn't normally be broadcast. How he thought he could generate enough revenue to pay for all the fights he wanted to put on was beyond me.
Doing it over December & January can't of helped either seeing as thats usually the months boxing stops (except for sky who seem to think boxing is like football) add to that people are usually skint then. If it fails he will come back like he normally does. If I was doing it I would of been showing old shows he's done or even tried getting some old good fights while it was still a free channel not Wembley Arena 3. The whole thing seems like it was a feeler just to see how it would of went. If it took off he probably would of run with it but I can see him doing it again another few years down the line with more thought into it.
i love the idea of boxnation and i subscribed soon as i could but that is because boxing is my number 1 sport. if there were more options on the channel i.e kick boxing tournaments, mma, aba's, karate all these things will open up the market.
It's over for him. The case that's ongoing between him and Sky will pretty much finish him financially. Sky won't ever deal with him again, Setanta is gone, Primetime isn't really a viable option and ITV have walked away from boxing. Why would any fighter wish to sign with him, knowing the rumours/truths that are doing the rounds? I'm not making Matchroom out to be the saviours, because it's early days and all that, but they do seem keen to make the big fights happen - we've seen Barker in with Martinez, Kell Brook is making steady progress etc, Froch speaks of them in glowing terms etc. The key here is that they actually promote their fighters - their PR is excellent and they've a solid platform in Sky from which to build. As opposed to the Ken Bates school of PR - ''you're all morons who know nothing'', no interaction/discussion with fans and little publicity for the fighters. Boxnation will probably be gone by the summer. Without actually advertising the channel you aren't going to get sufficient numbers.
Breach of contract. I'd imagine that in certain instances (such as DeGale, Gavin etc) they weren't too fussed about not having the headache of finding the extra cash, or the PR battle of staging PPV's for fights that weren't exactly major. But still, a breach is a breach and all that.....
We're close to losing something we all cried out for before, a dedicated boxing channel with bunce's boxing hour. I wish ****** was a silent partner, as I cant believe people in their hatred for ******, seem happy they're going under. Its crazy.
