This is high praise indeed coming from an ATG poster who has demolished many a delusional fanboy himself, but I must say it isn't that hard when the subject is one this clear where the facts pretty much present themselves!:good

I used to like Jones but then I found out he was a steriod cheat and stopped supporting him. On a side note, MetalMandible is clearly winning this debate.

    Did Leonard, Hearns, or Duran?

When it is all said and done ALL fighters are remembered for the high point in their careers due to the low point being so inevitable.

I think Roy hurts his legacy more than Hearns or Duran or Leonard because those guys fought each other and other greats when they were able to, and Roy sort of avoided them. Roy started to fight better guys when he was older and that is when he started to get knocked out. So I think it will hurt his legacy, but it would not other guys like Pacman who looked for great fighters to fight when they were younger and champions.

All 3 of those fighters took on everyone that was available to them and then some. Jones didn't. Don't ever compare Jones to them. They are so far ahead of Jones it isn't even funny.

Hard to tell somoene who's done this there whole lives just to give it up .. Hes no diffrent than any other legend that hung on too long ..Most fans never want to see there favorite fighters look human when at one point they were close to super human ..

No one judges Mike Tyson on his losses to McBride or Williams

Can we hold Alis loss to Berbick ?

Or Leaonard's loss to Macho Comacho ??

The sad reality is that there are more cameras on these aging fighters ,the same tool to highlight there greatness is the same tool that showcases their demise .

So Roid having his Glass Jaw viciously shattered over and over again was solely predicated upon the fact that he was out of his Prime? And are you also saying that he magically went from Prime to past it after he "masterfully" moved up to HW and potshotted feather fisted sloth Ruiz to a decision for yet another worthless alphabet belt?

If so, you are far off the mark. It had nothing to do with him being past Prime or weight drained or whatever other excuse Roy and his delusional band of nuthuggers can invent and everything to do with the fact that Tarver planted one on his Fragile Glass Jaw and put him to sleep like the joke that he is.

Brilliant retort from a brilliant boxing mind.:rofl:patsch

The Chincheckers have brutalized you on this topic in multiple threads and here you come again like the frothing nuthugger you are, ready to defend your Glass Jawed hero with nothing but the same tired excuses that have been refuted over and over again. Do yourself a favor and wipe Roy's semen from your eyes so that you can see the topic in a nonbiased light.

The guy was one of the biggest cherrypicking hype jobs Boxing has ever seen and his skill in manuevering through the weight classes and picking up vacant and trinket titles was far more impressive than any fighting he ever did. Face it, it is not the multiple embarrassing KOs he suffered at the hands of increasingly mediocre fighters that hurt the man's legacy so much as the absence of dozens of top names that he should have fought to create such a legacy. These facts are irrefutable.:deal:hi:

Aside from the steroid disgrace and the disappointment his career already was before his chin was shattered, yes.

Jones's critics and skeptics have always wondered why so many key fights didn't come close to being made. The Tarver ko raised alarm bells, and further mandible shatterings have not only caused some to question his whole career, but brutally turned him into a boxing laughing stock.
