Does anybody think that Mayweather is more ATG than Tyson?

But has far has being a boxing icon: No, not even close

 

Yeah, that's been passed around a lot. Supposedly Cus D'Amato mind****ed Tyson about how someone with Tyson's general style always gets obliterated by someone like Foreman, as I hear it...They wonder where Atlas gets it. :-(

Of course, that had to be before Foreman even came back, because D'Amato passed in 1985. Still, it seems strange that people keep talking about Tyson ducking a guy that wasn't a standout contender in the first place, during his reign. It's like the silly SRL ducking Pryor myth. No need to fight = no duck.

are you kidding me? it's not even close. mayweather clearly ranks higher, far better resume and hasn't lost, tyson lost to holyfield twice when he was expected to kill him. guranteed any list from espn, ring etc... will have floyd higher and have had him ranked higher since before the hatton fight. he's climbed since then.

 

I rate Tyson behind only Harry Greb, whereas Mayweather falls behind 400 other fighters at the very least.

 

Floyd needs Pacquiao's scalp to be in the same league as Mike. Tyson won against two ATG in Holmes and Spinks and he was the youngest fighter to win the most prestigious title in boxing. I rank De La Hoya as an ATG, but Floyd needs more bigger names to compare.

I love Mike tyson, and don't really care for Floyd Mayweather.

Tyson unified a division. Floyd won't.

Floyd should have one loss in the first Castillo fight. But huge props to him for fighting the rematch and winning.

Excitement, combination punching, popularity, etc holds no weight.

 

Being iconic has nothing to do with your skill as boxer. Ali is the most iconic boxer but few rate him ahead of Robinson.

 

Tysontards are ******ed, it's impossible to argue against one. Tyson's team ducked Lewis, Foreman and Bowe. Every true boxing fan knows that Mike Tyson is overrated, but will always be remberered. But who is more ATG, that's close. But Pacquaio is more ATG than Tyson that's for sure

 

Floyd, Pac, and Hopkins are all active fighters that will go down as better than Tyson.
