:patsch you realize Pernell is one of seven boxers to land over 500 punches in one fight

No man, I'm saying Chavez is there to be hit against a great offensive fighter with fast hands hence the Meldrick comparisons. The Sweetpea reference is of him being a southpaw (a defensive one at that) having success offensively against Chavez. Unofficially, that was Chavez's first loss. So there's two factors right off the bat that would suggest Pac doing very well against Chavez. Than you factor in what most hardcore fans already know about Manny; that Pac has trouble with "boxers" but looks superhuman against anyone who tries to outfight him. And don't put words in my mouth, I didn't say Chavez is just another Mexican pressure fighter...he's the ultimate Mexican pressure fighter, however, Pacquiao is the ultimate offensive fighter and will likely beat Chavez on any 50-50 exchanges.

Chavez. Manny's footspeed and brilliant left hand/combinations would give Chavez problems, but the right hand timing, body-punching, and educated pressure would take their toll. I like Sr. to stop Manny late.

The **** has that to do with anything? A truly great offensive fighter doesn't need to hit you 500 times. In fact 500 connects would suggest you're a light-hitting powderpuff. Pernel will always be considered and known for his defensive prowess not the other way around.

Pernell was not a light hitting powderpuff. He wasn't a KO puncher (although he did score some serious once punch KOs and knockdowns)...but he had enough pop and strength to get anybody's respect. And if you didn't respect him and tried to walk through him, you'd get peppered and beat up to the body and the head. Whitaker had a fantastic offensive arsenal and a great workrate in his prime.

 you said Pernell shouldn't have landed that much because he's defensive when he's been known to land high amounts of punches in his fights. He's not a potshot artist if that's what you're picturing.

Hey I got nothing but respect for the guy (I went to school with his nephew at VT). I was just using him as reference as to how a fast-twitch southpaw (known more for defense) easily landed on Chavez. I'm watching it on youtube right now and Chavez is getting beaten to the punch most everytime. If Pac lands the same amount of punches Sweetpea did (about 300), I can't really see Chavez seeing the finish line.

I was suggesting that a normally defensive-minded fighter landed 300 punches on the then toughest hombre on the planet. What does that tell you? He's there to be hit....and hitting is Pacquiao's specialty.

Oh, neither could I...especially if Pacquiao landed his best shots consistently with full leverage. But the problem is what Chavez would be throwing back would be more likely to land on Pacquiao than Whitaker.

If Pac thought Morales and Marquez right hands were something, He would had loved JCC right hand even more.

    What a fight!!!

I'm going for Pac. Pac loves come forward fighters.

Be a great fight though, and i see why some people would think Chavez.

Anyone who thinks this is one sided orclear cut to either fighter is ******ed in my book.

This one will be a way. And someone would be getting Stopped.

Only in his flyweight days. He took a fair few bodyshots from Cotto.

Also that body shot from Margo when manny's arm got caught on the rope would have definetly stopped you if you had a weak body.
