Is it possible for a person to have handspeed as fast as Meldrick Taylor, while at the same time have the punching power of Julian Jackson? I know guys like Roy Jones Jr and Mike Tyson spring to mind whenever we think of speed combined with power, but in this case I'm talking about a person who is able to have lightning quick hands and can also put people to sleep in the same fashion as Julian Jackson.

Joe Louis. The whole idea that speed and power are exclusive is incorrect, if you punch correctly.

Meldrick had fast flashy hands in combination, but Julian may have had hands just as relatively fast, lb4lb4, in a single one-punch hit.

you would need to be some sort of mechanical freak to have consistent devastating one shot power in the kind of shoeshining thrown as fast as possible combos Taylor was known for.

For quick singles and shorter combinations there have been a good few fighters with great combination of speed and power of course.

like the shout out to jones and tyson, louis as well fits to some degree. patterson as well but i don't think any of them could throw an 8 punch combination EACH punch able to knock the other man out in an instant. when jones was at his best his triple hook came close, same with patterson. but none of them had that (probably impossible) combination

Taylor didn't put as much into his punches as Jackson, McCallum said Jackson was faster than Roy Jones. He was pretty quick but I don't agree with that, maybe he had a faster right hand though and maybe McCallum was more defensive against Jones

Jones was faster than Taylor and had P4P power on par with Jackson

Jack Dempsey at his best was a tremendous in close puncher, with blurring handspeed.
Watch the one-two that kod Firpo in the second round. The camera can hardly capture it. And watch the 6-7 punch combo that a past prime Dempsey unloaded on Tunney in the "long count " bout. Every punch landed with great speed and power on Gene Tunney
before Tunney dropped to the canvas for the only time in his career...

Tony Thornton said Chris Eubank had faster hands than Roy Jones before he died!
