I am wondering what is next for Tony? I think his fight vs Cotto was stopped prematurely, and he still has around 3 fights next for him. Maybe Margarito-Canelo is Mexico City, or Margarito-JCC jr in Mexico City. Thoughts?

My personal advice would be for him to hang the gloves up. But if he wants to be a stepping stone, maybe Ortiz could go to 154 and beat him up and then take on Sergio Martinez at 154 (which Ortiz said he would be open to), if Ortiz gets past Berto.

I really don't want to see Canelo or JCC Jr fight Margarito though.

is this a joke??dude cant box for ****,no longer has his loaded gloves and now all you have to do is target his eye,add to that defense is a foreign language to him.............but he still has a granite chin which means he is just a walking punching bag

He should take a year off and fight at 154.
Watching him get beat up and hoping for the comeback more entertaining than watching most fighters win

WALKING PUNCHING BAG > then your favorite fighter

Margaritos is Myth status. He could of loaded his gloves with the rocks of gilbraltar-- Atlas Shrugged.

The man has a huge heart, and is loaded with charisma. Anything could happen in boxing. Watch Cotto-Margarito 1, you could tell his gloves weren't loaded, he didn't present anything out of the order other then the fact that he had a great chin, and pounded a pretty good fighter into defeat. Tony has plenty of losses, and never been a perfect fighter. I believe in one more chance for him. BTW did you watch the Cotto-Margo fight? Cotto was on his back foot the ENTIRE time, and Margo was starting to get to him.

He said in tv interview that he wants to fight Cotto again, he's still pissed at the, according to him, disgraceful stoppage

He claims that his eye was in much, much worse shape in the Pac fight and they still allowed him to finish. He blames the pro PR doctor, and the fact the fight was held in NY, a well known hive for PRicans, so Cotto was the local boy everybody wanted to protect.

If there's something this second match proved, is that Marg doesn't need loaded gloves to beat on Cotto. He visibly hurt him, marked his face and had him on the run despite barely landing any punches, with softer gloves at that

    Retirement and sunglasses.

And if no retirement, then a brutal beating yet again.

He was in worst shape in the cotto 1 fight at the same point in the match.

    First fight both eyes shut.

The difference was his eye surgery and recent serious history.

Although, Marg was building steam, and i believe he would of pulled it off.Unfortunately, it was a sound descion to stop the fight and seemed to have little to do with protecting cotto.

Just felt like everyone, media, refereee, commentators, hbo, promoters and fans were rooting against Margo. Sucks when a fighter has to not only worry about his opponent, but everyone else involved.

What about a Cotto-Margarito rubber match? Difference between these fighters is heart, Margarito begged to continue, and cotto begged for the end.

I think he will be out of the ring for a long time healing. I'm not sure he comes back. Have to see what the landscape is IF he comes back.
