It may very well be that Silva KO's Sonnen quickly, and he will prove definitively that he is the vastly superior fighter. But the only thing that has really annoyed me since their first fight is this idea that because some Silva fans are so certain Anderson would dominate a rematch, there's not point in having one. That's just dumb. I realize the OP is not saying that, but I've heard it again and again from other people. This is why the fight should absolutely happen, and as soon as possible pending Chael beating Bisping. Either we'll see a competitive fight, and the Silva fans will be wrong, or we'll see a quick destruction of Sonnen, and the Silva fans will get to say I told you so. Either way, I'm happy, since I'm not overly invested in either fighter. I just want them to fight. Although if Silva passed on Sonnen to fight Jones I wouldn't complain either.
It appears that Sonnen haters totally disregard what Silva went through the first 4 and 1/2 rounds of their fight. Unfortunatly Anderson hasn't forgotten and getting him into the ring will be the biggest fight.
There is a third possibility that is just as likely as the other two. A non-competitive domination by Chael. Assuming that Chael beats Bisping, then when the rematch happens Anderson will be 37, out of the cage for almost a year, and coming off an injury. Chael will be training like a demon, highly motivated, and more confident than he was last time around. He KNOWS that he can beat Anderson. And Anderson knows it too. Both of them remember who was dominating who for more than 20 minutes last time round, and who needed a last-minute incredible submission to avoid one of the most lopsided 5 round defeats ever seen in the UFC. I'm not writing Anderson off at all, because he's a dominant champion and a top-3 ATG. His legacy and talent is far superior to Chael's, no question. But it amazes me how so many people write off Chael's chances, seemingly because of his personality. Did they not see the first fight? :huh Styles make fights, and Chael's style is terrible for Anderson. As long as Chael doesn't **** up, he has to be considered the favourite to win IMO. Not by any means a certainty, but it would not surprise me one bit if Anderson spent 95% of the fight on his back being controlled on the way to a lopsided decision loss. :bart :hat
Lots. Anyone who has decided to take Silva down has gotten him down. This is including Travis Lutter who would have a hard time taking me down.
Just like people like you totally disregard the PEDs and cracked rib? And im no Sonnen hater - he's one of my favourite fighters No PEDs and fully fit Silva = Sonnen is ****ed
PED's? I guarantee his test is just as high in the next fight. He ****ed up with improper reporting. Anderson won't be able to rely on that again. It will be in Brazil though, so I have a feeling there will be plenty of premature stand ups. Not like Silva is an ATG or anything. He's gonna need a lot of help. If he doesn't get any, he'll need help getting his bloodied corpse out of the octagon.
Funny how some people desperately try to detract from a guy with a 13 - zip and two title belt UFC record, even going as far as mentioning themselves in comparison
Do you really believe he had a cracked rib? Nobody would go into a fight with a cracked rib....use your head. he had a sore rib which got embelished by keyboard warriors into a cracked rib. And PED's? He will be on the same thing he was on before it's TRT and alot of fighters are on it. So don't think Sonnen will be a slow slug without his "roids" He looked fast and explosive against Stann. Anderson will always have a good chance of course, he's got the skillset to do anything, but writing off Sonnen is very ignorant imo.
Never considered that? I just remembered Mirgliotta.....he has a tendancy to be that ref who has been "payed off" He did the Kimbo-Thompson fight didn't he? I just hope he isn't there.
Writing off Anderson Silva is even more ignorant, and that is exactly what a few people around here are desperately trying to do.
I don't care for Anderson as a person but as a fighter he's done his talking in the ring, his skillset and ability are top notch and he still does it at an advanced age while most guys are "shot" or past their prime. Anderson has refined his skills over the years to be "matrix" like. However when he fights Sonnen, chael takes all this away by his forward only motion which doesn't allow Anderson to set up his shots. Anyway, I look forward to this fight should it take place and may the best man win.
Are you a fanboy? Silva along with Hendo to me are the GOAT. Maybe Hendo edges it because of resume. Silva got a beatdown from Sonnen for four rounds and was fortunate enough to win since Sonnen the meat head that he is wouldnt stop fighting. Heres a statement; Although Silva is the GOAT, he cannot defend the takedowns very well proven by the fact that Travis Lutter who isnt close to a takedown machine was able to take Silva down at will and once with one hand.
i'm certainly not writing off Anderson, we've seen what an angry or Motivated Silva can do. But Sonnen is also very motivated and wants this fight badly. People just assume he will get submitted but they shouldn't bank on that, I'm sure or at least hope he has been working on that.
