Really interesting piece by Atlas in BN this week - couple of key bits

He then goes on to discuss the inappropriate closeness of promoters, officials, sanctioning bodies, judges and referees and finishes with

This got me thinking to what Buncey has been saying on podcasts and radio and TV since the Khan fight - he's been annoyed because the whole 'man in the hat' thing has led people to think that boxing is corrupt, and Buncey is adamant that its not

Be interested to see if Buncey reads this whether he agrees or not with Atlas, and whether he recognises Atlas's definition of corruption, or whether Buncey just sees this as 'part of the game'

In my mind, it fecking stinks, and Atlas is spot on

yep, its bent. Always has been. I'm not sure people always look in the right places when they cry "corruption" though...

    That was a great read!

Who else out there would say such a thing. As he said, 9 out 10 people would say it in private, but Atlas says it like it is.

    Eubank a few years back:

"It is noble to box but it's a fact that 99.9 per cent of boxers get disfigured, used, abused, manipulated and ultimately discarded.

"Yet 100 per cent of boxers are the single most important element of any fight they compete in. They are the nucleus.

"The problem is that promoters and managers will have the boxer believe that he is working for them because they pull the strings in the fight business. This is totally wrong.

"The boxer employs the promoters and managers. He is their boss because without the boxer there would be no fight business.

"I've always been outspoken and still am. It's my nature. I tell it as it is.

"When I was being particularly outspoken, especially in the earlier days before I was champion, my trainer used to say, 'Be careful, Chris, if you talk, they will have you bumped off.'

"By 'bumped off', he meant that arrangements would be made so that I would lose a bout.

"So, am I saying that some fights are fixed? Absolutely. If you ask for too much money or you are behaving like a prima donna, they will have you 'bumped off.'

"Judges can be indirectly influenced by nice hotel rooms, champagne, women, backhanders and the like.

"The fact is that if you suspect arrangements have been made against you, then you simply have to knock the man out before the end of the fight."

Bunce is just bitter and jealous that he's never been approached to be part of it.

Always the slobbering fat kid at the sweetshop window.

It's not corrupt at all. Alexander Povetkin is the heavyweight champion of the world.

Bunce wasn't fat back in the day. Big-haired, big-nosed, round-eye'd and short-lipped, with no receeding hairline or double chin.

    Staggering.

All the pulling of strings and behind the scenes Shenanigans may be corrupt but at the end of the day there is nothing purer than two class fighters giving it their all in the ring

Boxing is horribly corrupt. The man in the ring is clear evidence of that. Its clear that officials are not supposed to be disturbed at all during fight time but the man in the ring had to help the WBA Supervisor calculate 3x9!

Funny - you've got Atlas' piece in Boxing News complaining of corruption (correctly, although wrongly in the context of how he brings it up), but on the other side, Boxing Monthly has Glyn Leach (a ****ing shill if ever I knew one) crediting GBP for assessing officials based on who will most likely score in its fighter's favour!

Honestly, if the journalists weren't so in on the act, it would be a lot easier to make changes.
