Maia is a ATG jiu-jitsu fighter......Toquinho wouldn´t submit him IMO......

Really good fight. Palhares is so dynamic on the ground but Maia's BJJ is on another level.

Boring fight because they're both too good on the ground for anything but a stalemate, but Toquinho probably takes it by virtue of superior takedowns which give him more time in top position.

And to the guy who said Maia taps him, you're ****ing delusional. He couldn't tap Grove, he would never tap Palhares.

No not really, Toquinho has the worst striking in MMA (one dimensional) so this would be akin to a pure BJJ match. Maia wins via sub. Hes subbed better JJ fighters than Palhares.

Like I said, you are delusional on this topic. Toquinho is more than competent on the ground and given the quality of his opponent he's not going to give him any room to submit him. Maia has had top position and back control on most of his last few UFC opponents, none of whom are on Toquinho's grappling level, and he was unable to submit any of them. He won't even have top position in this fight because he can't take Toquinho down and if Toquinho has top position he's not going to try and rip off a submission or even make a lot of effort to pass. Palhares wins a very boring wrestlefest and you'd have to be blind not to see it.

Everybody is crazy and knows little about these guys pure BJJ abilities.

Paul Harris submited Romulo Barral as a purple belt at the adcc trials.

    Maia vs Barral....

I have to see it to believe it. MMA jits is the most exciting form of jits because it puts jits in the real life and death situation of punches, knees, slams etc Landing a submission in that environment tops any type of submission.

If Palhares locks one on DOES MAIA TAP or counter or go the way of Nog!!! If Maia locked one on, it would really establish himself as the main jitsu!

Maia will win it on the feet, evading Palhares' wild swings and kicks.

ask the guy Vic from Brazil. I dont want to think that the Mundial is a meaningless achievement. Because if a guy like Maia cannot sub a relatively new player in Palhares in pure grappling. Then the mundials means ****.

Paul Harris came 2nd at this years ADCC only losing to Andre Galvao who won both his and the absoloute weight class, he submitted 3 BJJ black belts on the way and has subbed more BJJ blackbelts in MMA than Maia.

Maia has also never won the IBJJF mundials ever as a black belt.
