Whereas Floyd is a technician and a very fine one, who is concerned with the principle of hitting and absolutely not getting hit, he will also not fight opponents who may violate this principle. Pacquaio positively prefers to fight Warriors, whose sole aim is not to outpoint their opponents but to force them to surrender or be knocked out. And this is why Pacquaio will be remembered as a boxing demigod, and Floyd will be remembered as a boxing technician whose performances are secondary to the vitriol he ignites outside of the ring, rather than inside of it.

I agree with the thread title and though this could be an interesting subject, but it turns out this thread is almost a criticism of Floyd and a praise of Manny. You made a point of mentioning their choices of opponents, for the last two years they have fought pretty much the same opponents as each other. Clottey, Cotto and Ortiz spring to mind as unique opponents. You have to respect Manny for taking on Cotto, that was a dangerous fight for WBO ww title. At the same time you must repect Floyd for taking on Ortiz to win WBC ww title. Remember Ortiz had just inflicted a first defeat on Berto to win the title. I thought this thread would be related to their fighting styles and not to some BS about choosing easy or hard opponents.
Pac is concerned with hitting and not getting hit with an emphasis on hitting. Floyd is concerned with hitting and not getting hit with an emphasis on not getting hit. Both are boxers in my book. I don't really make a distinction between boxer, fighter, etc.
