Frank ****** insists James DeGale is contracted to him until 2013 after the boxer had earlier announced he would be leaving the promoter's stable.

The 24-year-old Londoner, who sprang to prominence four years ago when winning a gold medal at the Beijing Games, said in a short statement released by his solicitors, Blick & Co, that the pair would be going their separate ways.

The European super-middleweight champion from Harlesden, London, said: "I think it is time for both of us to move on."

However, ****** has reacted with a statement of his own through his management company, claiming the boxer is signed to a deal until next April.

"We have seen the press reports today in which James DeGale states that he is to split from his manager Frank ******," the statement from Frank ****** Promotions read.

"This is not true; James DeGale is in fact under contract until 14 April 2013."

 

Well, if DeGale can prove there's been a breach of contract then he can try to get out of it that way. Either that or if he's got someone backing him then he can try to buy himself out. Either way, he might be facing a lengthly absence from the ring after his next fight. (Assuming it goes to purse bids and takes place in Italy.)

Plus, other than the Chisora fight, how many noteworthy matches has Fury been in on Channel 5? Hennessey is still the same, **** promoter he was when Froch abandoned him.

 

He's got good viewing figures for the fights he's been on, that's what Mick, Fury and C5 care about. The fights that would be noteworthy to us boxing fans mean jack **** to the general public. Plus if I was Mick I'd want to build Fury and Eubank, Jr - and any other exciting young fighters I've got - into well enough names that C5 back me long term.

 

He will always be an Olympic Gold Medalist, that can never be took away from him.

He's currently European champion and has had a good run of opponents considering the amount of fights he's had.

Fat Mick was **** for Froch but his fighters will get more exposure than the ones at Boxnation, I believe Fury has had 2 other fights on c5 and the last one was pretty exciting, which is surely what you want to draw casuals in, isn't it?

 

The problem is that only lasts for so long. The more coverage you get, the more likely people will start to ask questions - particularly Channel 5. It's fine for Fury, who is a prospect in many ways, to be fighting the level of opposition. But Chisora's about to fight the second-best heavy in the world. Who's done better?

Anyway, DeGale doesn't fit that profile because he makes for boring fights and I can't see them attracting enough money for what James wants.

 

I'm not sure that really answers the question. That alone is no reason to give him money. He's an expensive proposition because of his expectations.

 

hes a known face to an extent and Channel 5 could do decent numbers putting him in with come forward limited fighters to make him look good. He could get by fighting 5 or so stiffs like these and get good viewing figures on a sat night. hes miles away from being 'real' fighter as in looking to match the likes of Bute Ward etc, so getting out regular enough would suit him at this stage and suit channel 5 too.

He needs someone to build is PR, Eddie Hearn would probably do a good job. i never said it was a reason to give him money but you have to think with another olympics just around the corner that now is the time to get his face out there and remind people what he did and how he represented our country.

He needs to build his PR!? He had huge amounts of PR for the Groves fight, acted like a **** and put most viewers off him. His visibility is not the problem, HE is.

 

I think he means PR as in have someone speak for him, run a 'party line' past him and get him to stick to it and NEVER let him do an unsupervised interview
