Hughes' fighting style suggested he couldn't do so, not in the first 2 ****ing rounds anyway, how many times have you seen hughes fight?
On the whole Quigg/Frampton thing, Quigg is certainly more seasoned and comfortable in himself at the current time. If you compare their two performances, Quigg didn't let Booth achieve anything in that fight. He knocked ambition out of him (Hughes never had any) and then never let it slip until it was stopped. He's consistent. Frampton has periods where he's not entirely sure what he's doing. His opponent is pretty negative and he fails to maintain, its almost like he's experimenting at times. The time for that is in the gym. Based on what we've seen so far Quigg is putting on more consistent, rounded performances. I think Frampton may have a little more knockout power, punch for punch though. And I think Frampton potentially could reach a higher level because as far as head movement and upper body movement, the things that really make the difference at the top level, he's implementing a very advanced style. But that doesn't mean he'd beat Quigg yet because contrary to all logic considering their respective backgrounds I think Quigg has looked tidier lately. Further along. More prepared for the type of fight it would be against Frampton, than what Frampton would be.
Booth didnt have any more ambition than Hughes. He was a dead man walking from as early as the 2nd round on, and I just watched that fight a few days ago. Quigg just walked though him, and a younger fresher booth wouldnt have let that happen. I agree with the majority of your post though, Quigg is more seasoned and looks more comfortable in there. tbh I dont want this fight to happen for anoher 18 months or anyways.
He was a dead man walking from when he realized he was in the ring with somebody far too strong and fresh, yes. I wouldn't say from the first bell because I reckon Booth felt going in with his experience he had a chance, Quigg isn't massively proven. You could be right and he may well just be fighting for money but I wouldn't agree, I don't think he would have equated getting beat down by Kiko who is relatively proven to meaning he had no chance in this one. Hughes is a nobody thats never done anything, he was crap against Arthur as well. Just grabbing and holding, similarly negative stuff, only looked close because of deductions. He knew he had no price in there, really. Clear as day. This is neither here nor there really, because regardless of opponents my main point was that Quigg was very consistent through 6 rounds. Round after round he was comfortable in himself and his style. Frampton seems to experiment, get a little distracted, go off the boil randomly. When he's putting it together he's right there with Quigg, but all the pieces aren't quite into place.
Well, funnily enough I had the misfortune of watching the bloke beat Jamie Ancliff a couple of years ago on the Burns - O'Hara card......I know, Bellahouston cowboys
And as achilles implied, Hughes makes a fight ugly, you've seen it yourself, and Frampton pt on a clinic in a fght that on paprer could have been a 12 round snoozer had he been as passive as some make out. theres a difference between patient build up and negativity.
Just watched the quigley-ochieng fight. If my thinking is right, the corner cannot stop a fight during a round, only the referee(or the fighter) has the power to do that... strange anyway
In reality, Hughes was a disgrace. He gave it the big talk, completely bottled it and after 5 rounds there was no chance of winning on points so he had nothing to lose by going for broke earlier on and trying to cut him. Frampton is an unknown quantity, every opponent he faces should be looking to check him to the body, check his chin, check how he reacts to a cut, check how he deals with a hard paced fight etc Someone like Hughes should lose 25% of his purse for lack of trying. Its just unacceptable. I agree that at this stage, Frampton needs to be fighting guys who will DEFINITELY come to fight even if they are the underdog. Guys like Woodhouse and Murphy have a reputation for it and good on them because both so nearly caused hugh upsets domestically.
frampton is a class act if you ask me,hughes is not that bad,he was just outclassed from the word go,i don't get all the negativity with him,he is very accurate and dose not waste much,he went to the body doing the exactly right thing against a tall gangly southpaw. good boxer who will go far i think
tell me about it lol, I wouldn't blow the trumpet if he did another Turley-like performance, but he went in there and did exactly what he had to do against a similar opponent to the one who gave him problems last timne out, and he did it easily and classy, so whats the ****ing problem? Isn't Framptons potential already on show by how hes Quiggs rival yet Quigg has had 11 more fights than him
Thats the blog updated for this fight , thanks to the fans that added their scores. Everybody including Glyn Leach (boxing monthly) , Steve Lilis (Boxnation) had this fight 60-54 to Frampton. Next week i do 5 fights from the UK , Germany and the USA..list is on the blog below..........HELP lol http://fightscorecollector.blogspot.com
I would agree but if he hadnt tried to fight (a bit) he wouldve been able to survive a few more rounds i think. For sure good solid domestic guys who want to upset the hyped prospects, if he keeps fighting guys like hughes hell be going nowhere fast.
