Also, Ding...it looked like successfully evaded, ducked, or slipped the vast majority of Boytsov's punches. Am I correct? I think many of the fans here mistakenly think those punches landed.

eh, I wouldn't go as far to say Boystov is favored over anyone outside K-2.

A guy like Povetkin or Glazkov Slava would outwork him and probably pick up the decision.

He's a good fighter, but as of now he isn't #3 in the world

 

I believe that Boytsov's jab almost always fell short. I noticed that there was no swelling or damage to Ding's face.

Boytsov's jab was factor only in that it's hard, and he stuck it out there, thus ensuring that Ding focused on avoiding the jab. Beyond that, though, the jab didn't land much.

You have to watch the films very, very closely. One of the biggest mistakes that fans make is to assume punches are landing, when in fact the punches are missing, falling short, or grazing target at best.

 

Boytsov cut Ding's lip and Ding's head was constantly being moved back from the jab, I'm pretty sure those jabs landed.

Watch the film in slow motion. Ding was pulling back from most of those jabs.

 

Dude why would Ding call Boytsov a "sharp-shooter" if he was missing most of his shots?

 

I don't know about Glazkov...he really hasn't proven much yet. But I can think of numerous other heavyweights who would rate a favorite against Boytsov.

Something else that just occurred to me: Boytsov may not even be a "real" heavyweight. He's 213 lbs, and he's looking massively muscled and overblown. He's probably a beefed up cruiser more than a genuine heavyweight.

 

I still can't shake what I saw when a past it Chagaev hurt Povetkin several times and from what they tell me, Boytsov is definitely the bigger puncher along with being much faster and more accurate than Ruslan. Agreed however, that if Povetkin isn't affected by his power, he would likely outwork him.

Glazkov is very promising, but I need to see him against a couple of really stiff tests before I could favor him over Boytsov. A tall order

Well i though Glazkov's win over Bakhtov in only his 8th fight was on par with Boytsov's best over Bydenko although he didn't stop him.

Irrational hater Kenmore keeps insisting how unathletic Boytsov is and that he has unimpressive handspeed and no serious KO power. I think it may take someone like yourself who has actually been in the ring with Boytsov to assert the contrary before Kenmore is willing to seriously reflect upon his idiocy. So, is Denis unathletic with mediocre speed and overrated power?

 

Although he does fight straight up, he is very quick in reaction time and his power is very good. Must say though, I sparred with Wlad before and his power is likely two tiers above all others. If he hits anyone clean with a full fledged left hook, ITS OVER!!

 

You are exaggerating my criticism of Boytsov. He's certainly not slow, has some athleticism, and can bang. I'm merely saying that relative to the very best in the game, Boytsov has weaknesses in these areas. But again, I emphasize: this is just relative.

I'm not Boytsov hater, either.

But it sounds like I was right about certain other things, one being that today's result doesn't tell us much about Boytsov, because Ding didn't have time to get into shape. Ding took this fight at the last minute, literally.
