Agree with this Not with this : If it was true , Ali would have at least gone down . Ali went down vs Joe Frazier & Henry Cooper so u got your contradiction right here . Holmes was out from a Tyson punch but not from Shavers' right so there u go again , and i don't care what both of them said . Ron Lyle would have been KOd by Shavers but instead he got up . Jimmy Ellis and Ken Norton were not known for their granite chin regardless of Shavers . Shavers is so overrated as a puncher , he might have been 1 of d hardest punchers of his own era but his actual stoppage wins were not any more impressing than Rahman's , McCall's or even Maskaev's . Remember : Maskaev not only stopped Rahman twice but also Jeff Wooden , Robert Hawkins whom were otherwise durable fighters and also a 21-0 former SHW bronze medalist in Alexander Miroschnichenko and that was Maskaev's debut ! Maskaev was destroyed by Lance Whitaker , Kirk Johnson & Corey Sanders in addition 2d obvious Tua&McCall but he did stop d big Derrick Jefferson . If u think about it , Maskaev's resume is at least on par with Shavers' , at least in terms of stoppage wins . It's just that Shavers gets so much credit on punches that neither knocked down his opponents , or knocked them down but not out . Tex Cobb whom stood up 2 Shavers' power was KOd by Dee Collier .
Shavers had the hardest punch-but they're both the same class of fighter best for best and Corrie is also a big hitter.
Jackson was a heavy hitter no question where he is ranked on peoples list is up to the individual ..But Shavers packed as mean of a punch ..Both men were equally respected by fighters and trainers alike thats why its hard to even dismiss either one ..As far as mythical power well I just beleive in what he actually did ..I don't buy into that hype .
In terms of sheer brute force, Shavers easily beats out Sanders. Part of what made Sanders' left so devastating though wasn't just the fact it was a very powerful punch, but also the fact it was FAST. His left hand's combination of speed and power meant most opponents didn't see it coming or react in time to lessen its impact, so he caught a lot of people flush with it. It's a shame Sanders didn't apply himself more seriously to boxing and bother to condition himself- he really could have been something special.
Corrie Sanders is not even on The Ring Magazine's 100 greatest punchers of all-time list, and Shavers is #10.
He knocked out Glass Jaw Wlad. In Klitschko Land this means he's one of the hardest hitters of all time.
Sanders has a jolting left that has quite the damaging effect for something that looks very little like a haymaker.
Shavers might have hit slightly harder with one punch. But Sanders was much faster and could hit opponents with multiple combinations of power punches like Pacquiao.
:yep I read a book that claimed a guy named NOAH saved everything on earth with his big boat . I"LL assume you think this must be true also .:deal
:yep 70s land land where all the fighters where great heavyweights dispite the fact that most where 190 pounders .:hey And thats who the legendary punchers where koing .
Yeah, Ring Magazine folks put a lot of effort in this one. I really wish they used softer paper though. Major oversight.
