Comically, if it weren't, he wouldn't have gotten his now former fighter, Povetkin, a "world title".

Society is corrupt in general.

Any organisation - involving - money - power - control - is usually has corrupt people at the top running it with their own twisted agenda - usually driven by greed and money.

Officials should be paid by the board/commission, not by promoters.

It's well known that officials are put up in nice hotels by Allegedly and given a bar and meal tab. Now, I'm not questioning anyone's integrity here (Allegedly aside) but it does leave them open to question.

They should be paid by the board, and receive expenses from the board, which would be from sanctioning fees collected from the promoter.

The cricket thing is different, here we had a player who was bought by a bookie and paid to influence other players to fix ''events'' in matches. We've not had fighters paid to take a dive, though of course there are journeymen that ease off the gas at times if they've got a prospect in trouble.

To me it's incompetence that's lead to the shocking decisions that we've seen in the past couple of years, as opposed to anything fishy.

 

The chisora vs helenius fight is rock solid proof that it is blatantly fixed. Any ****** could tell you who won that fight yet three experianced boxing judges cant?

You will always see home town decisions as long as money is involved!

You mean the Bruce Seldon match he set up for povetkin. He had long time friends like Luis Rivera there as ref, and Seldon was on suspension. Atlas is as corrupt as anyone, ****, he had drug dealers and Sammy THe Bull Gravano as his friends for years. He has friends like Zef Mustafa, a well known Albanian gangster around him, he trained fighters for guys with crime ties, and he has had al his fighters in bouts in those states with no commissions---something he is quick to accuse everyone else of.

That Bruce Seldon bout would have gotten anyone else in trouble, he got a pass from media. Shannon Briggs is right, Teddy Atlas has too many friends reporting on sport who cover for him.

 

Boxing is a corrupt sport? Could be, depends how you value and define corrupt. Any sport could be tarnished with the term. The term very often lacks meaning, and is a lazy throw away cliche.

Buncey is a hyprocrite, I like the way he talks and he is straightforward and to the point but I do remember him saying in Pac v Marquez III that the officials gave it to Pacqiuao because they wanted to protect the Pac v Mayweather fight. Now he is saying boxing is not corrupt, make your mind up fatboy.

 

Atlas is right sadly. Corruption doesn't have to have a cash envelope involved. People like to look down the wrong paths when they talk about corruption in boxing - I just wish something would be said more often about what really happens when injustices happen in boxing.

 

But that is subjective. In Football why did Qatar get to host the World Cup when it was clear Australia and probably the States had better packages? In Cricket why are players playing when they have been named as taking bribes in a Court of Law? I here and see speculation concerning boxing. And although it would be naive to believe it is all mere speculation; what can be pointed out, is that proven criminal actions in the sport, particularly in recent years, have led to criminal sanctions (Lee, Resto and Lewis, all be found guilty in a Court of Law).

Boxing has a reputation as a shady sport, and its history shows that to be the case. And although boxing has not done enough to clean up the sport, other sports are now arguably just or indeed more dishonest. That is not a good thing and the injustices in the sport of boxing need to be addressed. But it needs to be recognized it is not only boxing that has issues with corruption. It also needs to be recognized that the vast majority of people involved in the sport, are decent, honest people.
