i dunno..getting your take downs stuffed, getting pushed and held as much as your are pushing and holding, and getting punched in the face means you basically lost the round
Tbf considering how popular bisping is with alot of american fans etc, the reaction online and some boos after the fight seem to suggest that he was the worthy winner.
Two of his takedowns in the first round were successful. And Bisping didn't exactly win the round big. He managed to get back to his feet pretty quickly, but Chael was still able to take him down twice. If you're going to credit Bisping for punching Chael in the face without looking likely to stop him, then you have to credit Chael for taking him down twice even if he couldn't hold him there. :hat
I can;t agree with you there, in my eyes there is no benefit in taking someone down if you can;t do something with the advantage, were as striking someone is at least doing some damage and gives you a chance of a finish.
Takedowns are big in MMA. Sonnen wanted to take Bisping down. He succeeded. Bisping wanted to avoid the takedown. He failed. Because of that, Sonnen gets some credit for the takedown regardless of how long he keeps him down for. And Bisping had the edge in the striking, but he didn't do much with it. He couldn't put Chael on the back foot with it, couldn't make him go into a shell and couldn't drop him with strikes or seriously threaten to finish the fight with them. Close, competitive round. Edge to Bisping IMO. Sonnen did enough that you can argue he won it. Crowd noise and reaction helped him put that impression in the minds of the judges. :good :hat
Again i don;t agree, takedowns are big in ufc not mma, thats the main problem i hve with ufc scoring worthless lnp takedowns.
a solid take down into some kind of control and a kinda sorta half assed sliding take down on the cage in which the guy is back to his feet in 1/2 second aren't really the same things
yeah, indeed...hag has some points based on the shitty UFC scoring, but i agree that a solid TD vs. a limpy i kinda fell into you and we rolled around on the cage for a second are very different
i think bisping needed a stop to win...judges were not going to be on his side as the ufc wants sonnen-silva 2, imo
Hey man, I gave the first round to Bisping. But he didn't dominate it. Bisping is a come-forward fighter, but he didn't back Chael up with his strikes. IMO the second and third rounds were pretty clear. The first was quite evenly fought. Evenly fought rounds generate differences in opinion among observers. :good :hat
