Floyd in the Ortiz fight reminds me of Ike Williams (bar the "cheap shot").

    Such a beautiful right hand.

Judging by the numbers Ortiz definatley didn't stop using his jab in round 3. He didn't land one but he threw 19.

Your analysis on jabbing for southpaws vs orthodox fighters is spot on though:good

There's a good sequence in the fight where Ortiz tries five consecutive jabs, all of them with the same rhythm, timing.. when I watched it live, going onto the third or fourth jab I was thinking "And soon, Floyd will drop a right hand on him", and sure enough... Ortiz tried it YET AGAIN, and was badly countered.

Now I know Ortiz gets ripped to shred about being stupid and all that, but the fact that he telegraphs his stuff so much against the best counterpuncher in the game, tells you all you need to know about the kid. He'll never be able to come close to beating a man like Floyd.

Good thread by putting in the gif's and compubox,Funny how people say in the 3rd and 4th Ortiz was coming on.. IN the fight he didn't land more than ten punches,in the 4th Floyd landed what 50% or so and threw MORE punches..

Even if Ortiz was getting stronger,Floyd showed us that so was he,that fight was gonna eventually end with a KO..

Well at least there are few online posters that still respect the sport of boxing no matter who they are a fan of Pac,Floyd,Cotto.. A guy does a post and he is a 'dick rider" because you buy into all the hype he puts out..

He uses his entire left arm as a timing device. Floyd immediately blasted the counter right after he parried by making Ortiz jab slide off his forearm. Ortiz trainer had no knowledge on Mayweather's style. They were talking about jabbing Floyd's shoulder on 24/7. You sent your boy down the path of right cross counter hell.

Punch stats don't really mean much. I'll tell you what counts, Floyd went 2/2 on the last two punches of the fight.

Not so much to do with this thread but:
Those mofo's at ''compu''box should stop counting pawing jabs.
What makes a punch a punch is when it is thrown with the intention to land and do damage (to whatever extent). Mosley pawing a zillion times with his harmless left is not a punch yet ''compu''box counted plenty of them:patsch
