You can either blame him or his corner for him not getting an easy KO.

Davis just made it hard for him to put his work together enough to get the stoppage.

It can't hurt to go 5x5 though. Great experience in understanding how his body works over that distance when he is in the thick of it.

Rashad shoulda knocked him out. I blame his corner and him. First of all phil davis wasnt trying to land anything but kicks. He was punching short every punch and was looking for nothing but the right hand of evans. Evans didnt make any adjustment to that and kept throwing a one two or a double jab right hand. He went back to his corner and they gave him no advice to help him make an adjustment. Just a simple adjustment and davis was koed.

It wasnt anything davis did. All davis did was throw punches short to keep him away and move around the cage with terrible footwork and look out for a right hand. Rashad mad zero adjustments. He looked terrible.

You could see Davis had really awkward movement and he could do enough grappling to keep himself from danger. He was also kicking alot to keep the striking at range.

Rashad adapted in the first round to the kicks and gauged them much better. He started using his movement and blocking to avoid them. He landed some good shots but couldn't put enough together.

I think Davis toughness is part of it. Others, like Lil Nog, have landed a few on Phil and its not like he folds like oragami.

His last two opponents don't impress me at all. The Bader win aside, Tito is still Tito, a shopworn guy whose game hasn't improved since 2003. I've been saying for the past ten months since the Nog fight that the Phil Davis hype was totally unjustified. People kept comparing him to Jones because they were both up and comers at the same time, but it should have been glaringly obvious to anybody who pays close attention to the sport that Davis is nowhere near Jones' level. He's a one dimensional fighter with slightly above-average MMA wrestling. (Last night once again affirmed the fact that amateur credentials and decorations mean **** in MMA).

I still don't know how gauge how good "Rashad 2.0" is. It's clear that he's a mentally tough veteran, but I couldn't be pressed to predict how he'd do against the top five in the division with any confidence. We'll find out at UFC 145.

I was very impressed with Rashad coming off a long layoff and pretty much schooling Davis.

Davis was tough and he was keen to fight, he kept trying but Rashad shut him down wherever the fight went. I didn't think Davis looked that bad. He didn't freeze. It's just that he's still raw and he was in there with a guy who is twice as good as anyone he's ever faced before, on a stage 10x as big as any he's fought on before. Rashad's experience and skill in all areas of high-level MMA won him the fight. Come back in a year, and Davis will be much improved because of this fight.

I had posted about how unimpressive Davis was against an old Rogerio. He even lost the first round. I just dont get how some people think this guy can compete against the likes of Machida or Rampage let alone Jones.

If you look up the word Blah in tbe dictionary, you'll find Phil Davis' picture as reference.

I thought so, If some people don't get a finish they call it a bad preformance, Rashad was determined and focused in this fight and made no mistakes. He did his job against a solid fighter and even out grappled Davis which nobody was able to do until this point.

There was a lot thinking before the fight that Davis was the man. Evans comes in & wins every round & people are not impressed. Can't please everyone I suppose. i thought it was a very dominant performance from Rashad.

Rashad threw a one two and a double jab right hand up top all night and never made any adjustment. He was never in any danger of getting hit because davis never had any intentions of landing a punch but rather to keep him away and davis wa s looking for the right hand and deflecting it all night. Rashad made no adjustments. All he had to do was mix up the right hand to the body here and there and given davis something else to look for other than a right to the head and he woulda got him outta there. This fight showed he is a very limited striker, has no ability to make adjustments as far as striking, and his corner doesnt know **** as far as striking. Say what you want. It is a simple adjustment and he woulda got the ko.

If you didnt think davis looked bad im not sure we watched the same fight. Davis wasnt even punching to land but rather to keep him away and ive never seen such horrible footwork. The guy was slow and had no traction in the cage.....guy was like ice skating around the octagon.
