Why has Maia ditched his ground game?

Goldberg is a noob and Rogan may have been stoned... who knows.

Either way Maia has the poorest standup.

I'd take a kickboxing fight with him tomorrow for £100 :deal

...his stand up is good now. Goldberg said it, so it must be true :think

He's never going to be " the complete fighter " , his stand up looks shite and it looks as though his balls have gone too , he looked really bad last night

Id like to see him come out and scare the life out of people again with take downs and jits

Altough his striking is awful....In his mind Maia trusts in his stand-up game.......he spend a time in Thailand trainning Muay Thai a while ago......his head coach is a boxing guy (Dórea, ex-trainer of Popó Freitas).....So, I think he have some confidence in his stand up.......
This happened with Big Nog as well, in my opinion....I have no idea how they gained that confidence...

What's happened to Maia is the same thing that's happened to guys like Ken Shamrock, Jacare and it even happened to Rashad Evans at one time - they forgot what brought them to the dance. They all stopped focusing on their strengths and in a quest to become more well rounded.

Jacare had that horrible fight with tim Kennedy and arguably he let himself get outstruck against Rockhold. Rashad lost to Machida because of it but has since learned and adapted.

They always crap on about how great Maia is at BJJ but whenever he goes to the ground he doesn't seem to do anything.

I don't think Weidman is that good... It would seem I was right, but Maia is even poorer :deal
