Paper champion to be exact. Froch is a finalist in the supersix so he's no joke either.

While you are right about Bute being the champion, this case has different circumstances. He is starting to fall in the JCC Jr. "paper champion" category plus it doesn't seem like any of the promoters of Super Six fighters want to let him walk right into a big fight without some concessions.

If Bute wants to get respect and elevate himself internationally, he's going to need to swallow some pride; hard to do when you can pack a house fighting lower competition at home.

I hate boxing politics. I wish Bute would fight Dirrel in Michigan for the 50K Dirrel could get him, but I think we all know that aint gonna happen.

Maybe if Dirrel would let interbox promote it, it could get done 5 minutes from Detroit across the bridge and they could both earn some cash.:rofl

If i believed myself to be the best in the division and capable of stopping all my opponents, i'd fight anybody, anytime, anywhere, for any amount of money.
This "Bute makes more money in Montreal,so he should fight at home" bull**** is really getting tiresome. If money, politics and location are stopping the big fights from happening, then Bute should make some concessions and fight away from home, this is what champions and warriors do.

Martinez is the closet thing to it, Donaire I guess could be considered generically white...as he's not black.

Bute is has 9 defences and has been #2 or #3 in the Ring's ranking of the category for years now.

Showtime has messed up big time the SMW division. They hyped up boxer who didn't diserve to be up there (Dirrel is the first guy that comes in my mind) while took away the second best guy of the division from the biggest names. And now there are again pulling it with Bute.

It`s exactly what he did recently asking his promoter to give up some money (due to Showtime withdraw) just to make the fight with Froch.Guess what :his promoter agreed but Froch team refused a single fight in Canada.
