Well, why not? This was a very good and for sure underrated fight between two Mexican warriors. It was WAY more competitive then the scorecards show, I thought Barrera actually won. If he would have been credited with the KD and not have been a dumb ass hitting Marquez when he was down and loosing a pt for it he should have won clearly.

I believe this was Barrera's last impressive performance and I wanted to give it a shout out because it was a classic mexican battle that should be noted more then it is.

What do you guys think of this fight?

prime for prime Barrera beats JMM IMO. this was a good fight but ****ed up a little by Nady being **** and Barrera throwing a cheap shot.

Damn good fight that deserves more acclaim. I think people take the great battles between the Mexican legends for granted nowadays. There were so many good ones that they get rolled into one in people's heads. I know I'm guilty of overlooking this one.

You're right, this was the last great fight from Marco Antonio Barrera.

Brilliant fight from a technical stand point, and there's also that Mexican spirit where somebody gets hit and their instinct is to punch right back, MAB, JMM and Morales all had this.

Many say Barrera was past his best, but IMO at age 32 33 the ATG warrior still was much better then a drained Morales in Part 2 and 3 of Pac Rematches... And PAC gets a lot of credit for those. So It's only even to award JMM with alot of credit for the great fight that was and showed he was superior JMM, was the better man.. It doesn't matter at what point it would always be a techical fight with JMM getting the better end of it.

I love this fight. One of the best displays of technical boxing you'll ever see, from both guys. I think every Floyd Mayweather worshipper should watch this fight and learn a thing or two about boxing.

Yea it does get talked about. Many have Barrera winning it tho I disagree Marquez had him hurt several times. I think Marquez won most exchanges, but Barrera still put a great performance. Great technical fight. I would of loved this fight happening in 2000-2001. During that time I really wouldn't pick many to beat Barrera.

Completely agree. It was a very entertaining but very tactical war.

I think a prime Barrera beats Marquez. I thought that version bet him! It was close and I wasn't angry about the decision going to JMM just how wide it was.

I think he was past his prime by at least a couple years in this fight.

It's amazing how a "decent" MAB fight is more exciting than the best performances of many fighter's careers. The same can be said about JMM.

People tend to think you have to choose between technical skills and action. Those two show you don't.

It was a good fight, but a somewhat frustrating, forgettable one for Barrera fans. He was over the hill, and faded down the stretch. Nady messed up big time when Barrera dropped Juan Manlover Marquez. Barrera disgraced himself with the cheap shot. The scores were also a joke. He would've been robbed whatever happened.

Prime Barrera would thrash the pee pee man.

the fact that every single post of yours has to mention manny or floyd shows that you don't know **** about boxing. I truly doubt you ever saw MAB fight.

Loved it, but live it looked like a landslide for JMM. When I rewatched it later on TV it looked completely different than I remembered.

Live i remember thinking wow, Barrera isn't getting started and Juan is snapping his head back all over the ring for the first seven rounds, then Barrera started to come on late.

On Tv, the early rounds looked like Barrera was winning!!!!

I think this is due to the fact that live you saw not the tight slipping and missed shots but JMM really pushing forward and seeming to control the landscape so that Barrera had to retreat, and you just can't see this on the tV focused on their upper body.

This is the ONLY fight that looked different live versus TV that I can remember (went to all three pac-morales fights, castillo corrales ii, and some other less memorable ones).

    Great fight.
