He's definitely better than "C" league. His performance against Solis alone tells us that.

Leapai's fighting Kevin Johnson next, who is much better than anyone Chauncy has beaten, if that's not a step up...

That's a huge step up for Leapai. How do you see this one turning out? I'm interested in others' opinions of the outcome, too.

Kevin Johnson should outbox him without much trouble, I think.

I see KJ turning the event into a boo fest and nicking a decision. I tell you what, if KJ pulls his **** again of not engaging at all, this will be his last fight of significance even if he wins. Nobody wants to see him at all. His only hope to entertain the crowd is for his opponent to amp it up to another level to get the crowd cheering for him to catch him and destroy his marathon running arse.

That poster is crazy. Here is how disgraceful Tua is. Tua's cousin Inga was promoting him for his BackYard Brawl in Auckland. The event that sold less than 200 tickets and the opponent was the .500 Demetrice King.

Inga calls up Chauncy Welliver to insult him because Team Welliver is chasing Tua so hard. He calls up and offers Chauncy 10K to fight David as a Top 10/15 WBO guy vs David who was then #2. He totally expects Chauncy to say, F you on that pathetic offer. But it doesn't go that way. Chauncy accepts the 10 grand offer and Inga says to him...great I will get with David and calll you back.

The damn phone never rang again. Not even to say they were going with another guy....a .500 fighter for the same exact price! And then King is in the press having to fight to get his money.

David Tua is scared shitless of Chauncy Welliver. Welliver would fight him for a Crakker Jack box prize.

King is actually a better fighter than his 15-20 record suggests. He's a very dangerous puncher, and has KO'd Bermane Stiverne. His stats are crap because he never got any kind of build up, and because he's almost always overmatched. I wouldn't disparage him...he's the kind of guy who can get lucky with any single shot.

If Roland and Chauncy have been trying hard to get Tua in the ring, that's a good sign, and I think they should be publicizing it more. Chauncy's camp should be communicating with the media, explaining the details of purse offers, splits, who the promoter could be, what involvement TV would have (if any), etc.

The $10K offer from Tua's side should been leaked to the news as well, because it makes Chauncy look good, while simultaneously discrediting Tua.

I'm still laughing about Mansour's $35K "offer" on facebook. Did Mansour say where the $35K would come from? Who is the powerbroker who would provide that kind of purse? There are no promoters in Delaware with financial clout.

I have been terrorizing DavidTua.net for 2 years. Sparring with NZ's trainers and boxing people who have varying opinions on Chauncy. Some try to say that he is not worthy of a Tua fight....even as Chauncy has blown by him in the world rankings and title count. Chauncy has called him out numerous times on radio and in press. But, he does always qualify it with Dave Is My Friend stuff. I'd love to see him get nasty but the dude just doesn't roll that way.

As for Demtrice....he is a Flint stone baby! And he is a raw and powerful man. Very much better than his record...look at Bowie go now who he has beaten. I honor Demtrice King and I wish I had known him as a young man. IMO the predators of boxing f'd him over. I would have taken him to Arkansas immediately. Instead of JD Chapman going 29-0 and retiring, Demetrice would have taken the haye or Valuev matches fr ober 100K purses. And he may have won them. He was screwed. he could have been taken places.

But, Chauncy for the same price...solid WBO top 15. The King fight was 10 rounds and no title. So they did save costs there but the WBO was furious with them and threatening to drop him before Monte beat him. Chauncy is also NZ HW Champ. And he held the WBC CA title as well. I think he was multiple top 15 at the time with the WBC too.

You don't ever get a man like that to agree to 10 grand. You will never see Welliver ever be willing to take that offer again. That's one third of the offer Monte turned down to see Chauncy. And it would have sold well, I'd have gone to NZ so i can guarantee 1 more ticket at least. At that time there was not even any need to see barrett again. He drew with Charles Davis on the Holy US...actually lost IMO. And he ducked Chauncy there too. Chauncy was trying to cut Mnte off at the pass by beating him on that card and he refused. Too bad as if Charles Davis beat him up, Chauncy kills him that night.

Did you see the fight...were you there in person, or did you see a film? Or are you basing your judgment on second hand information?

Monte was definitely subpar that night. He wasn't on the same performance level as he had been for Ustinov and the two Tua fights.

That fight is based on 2nd hand information. I refused to buy the PPV after welliver was not on the card. But, i've read most every report on it. A bunch of really good fans were reporting that Davis should have won. And for a guy like Davis to get that close on the cards, you probably did have to do more.

I saw Davis vs Mitchell though and he was crushed there. Off night or whatever, Chauncy doesn't need him to be off to win. Even an old and tired Tua was able to fire up on him late in their last match...even though he did nothing at all for 6 rounds. Chauncy will take it to him for all 12 and beat him easily IMO.

So yeah, I missed that one but I've seen a ton of Monte and his recent fights.

I saw Luis Ortiz vs Davis from ringside. Ortiz just popped him consistently and easily en route to a TKO win.

Did you see Mitchell vs Davis from ringside, or on TV? I know Mitchell won easily, but did you notice if Davis was able to land right hands on Mitchell?

I am not a ringsider, that is for sure. I watch what I can on TV and have all the USa channels. I watch you tube, streams, whatever. I've only been to a handfull of live fights in my life. The last of which was Welliver vs Gregory in ******, Michigan. I've got more WWF/E live attendance than boxing.
